Ahmad Shabery Supports Abdullah's Statement

SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek expressed support for the statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should not interfere in the election for the Umno leadership.
He said Abdullah made the statement because the prime minister wanted the future of the country and Umno to be determined by the people and party members themselves.
It was only proper that as a former prime minister, Dr Mahathir should not interfere and make statements all over the place because it would reflect poorly on the Umno leadership, he told reporters when met at a Hari Raya open house hosted by Works Minister Datuk Ir Mohd Zin Mohamed, here, Sunday.
Ahmad Shabery said Dr Mahathir's interference might lead the public to perceive that the former prime minister had certain interests because the political game also involved his own family member.
"As such, it is better that he is seen as being neutral and let the process taking place currently to be determined by the Umno members themselves," he said.
He said that in Umno there was no such thing as "Abdullah's men" or "Mahathir's men" because everyone was Umno's men and Umno members were mature and capable of thinking for themselves in determining their own future.

tunku : this is pak lah's man, of course he will support pak lah's statement.why can't tun comment or make remarks or suggestions. he is not directing umno members to do so, he is just giving his opinion.he has been giving his opinions and thoughts for quite sometimes and no one listen to him.he is not even an umno member.when opposition leaders gives their comments and criticism about the nominations why pak lah and his troops keep quite , why don't you attack them?why attacking a 82 years old man for his comments.
