Rumour On Chua Spread By Certain Groups, Says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the rumour that MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek might be joining the opposition is being played up by certain groups.
Najib, who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said that when he met the former health minister two days ago, he had not heard anything on the matter from Dr Chua.
"Who is saying this? I met him (Dr Chua) two days ago. There was no mention about the matter...it is being spread by certain quarters," he said.
Commenting on the report which said that Dr Chua did not rule out the possibility of defecting and joining the opposition as he claimed that he was being increasingly marginalised in the party, Najib said he believed Dr Chua was loyal to the BN.
"He (Dr Chua) has no intention (to join the opposition). Only some people are talking about it, but I believe Dr Chua is a loyal supporter of the BN," he told reporters after delivering a special message at the Workers' Day Gathering 2009 at the Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil, here today.
Dr Chua was reported to have said that he had received an offer from the opposition coalition since January 2008.
On the activities of human trafficking syndicates using Malaysia as a transit point, Najib said most of these syndicates were not making Malaysia as their destination but preferred other countries like Australia.
He said the government would take action to curb the smugglers and the Malaysian authorities had detained a group of foreigners who were on their way to Australia recently.
"The Australian Prime Minister (Kevin Rudd) had telephoned me two weeks ago and expressed his appreciation for the cooperation accorded by the Malaysian government in detaining those who were trying to land in Australia," he said.
The activities of the human trafficking syndicates who were using Malaysia as a transit point before heading for Australia by sea, came to light following the detention of 37 foreigners, including 16 Afghan, 14 Pakistani and three Iraqi nationals in the waters off Kuala Langat, Selangor last Saturday.
Najib was also asked about the possibility of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim trying to influence the results of the PAS election at its assembly next month.
"(I) don't know...he (Anwar) may have certain people (in PAS) whom he wants to support...possibly," said Najib.
A local daily had quoted the chairman of the Muslim Solidarity Organisation, Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad, as saying that Anwar was attempting to influence and ensure victory for certain PAS leaders who were supporting the PKR advisor's ideology.
Meanwhile in KLUANG, Johor, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein hoped that the MCA leadership could handle the problem regarding Dr Chua.
Hishammuddin, who is also the Home Minister, said that as someone who knows the former health minister for a long time, he would be sad if Dr Chua, who was also a former member of Parliament for Labis, truly intended to defect to the opposition.
Asked on the claim that Dr Chua's son, Chua Tee Yong, who is the current member of Parliament for Labis, had also been persuaded to defect, Hishammuddin said this was not wise because such defection would disappoint his voters.
In MELAKA, another Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal hoped that Dr Chua would not cross over to the opposition.
He said that what was important now was that all leaders of the BN component parties worked hard to strengthen the coalition to face the next general election.

tunku : let csl defeat if he think that is the best for him.after all, pakatan is waste disposal centre.if csl defect to pakatan, he will be clean like a piece of white cloth and even nik aziz will say that whatever csl did was not wrong at all.may be csl will be made an ulamak by pas. but will csl defeat to pakatan remains a big question mark?
on pas issue, pas is not only ruled by anwar indirectly but also by dap.pas is just like donkey in pakatan as anyone can have a free ride on them.they have no say.

This is sound as a big mistake for us to start mingle with happening with Pakatan parties.

Regarless what happening with Pakatan we should not bother too much about it.

At a time where we at BN need a real transformation to attract the voters we should just focusing on our own effort instead of what going on with Pakatan.

The more we bother about Pakatan the more weaker we are. So i still believe we are better off keeping our house in order and better.

Minimize our talking that involve Pakatan especially negetive talk as it is only would decrease our strength on the voter eyes.

Mr Chua... Dear Mr Chua. In the US and many other countries if a person is implicated by what has been implicated by you, or even lesser than what you have 'done' would disgracefully quit. Our society just cannot accept this. You may be a good and smart guy. The 'incident' has brought disgrace to you in the eyes of many. Please understand... and just leave politics.
