Happy Labour Day

Inspire Younger Generation To Be The Best, Says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysia must continue to inspire the younger generation to continue its struggle in order to be able to compete in a global marketplace amid global economic crisis, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
In his Labour Day message posted in his blog, wwww.1malaysia.com, Najib said the country needed to ensure that young Malaysians were well educated so that they became the brightest and the best.
"We must ensure that, in this time of economic crisis, we are providing jobs for workers and graduates," he said.
Najib said in this uncertain times, Malaysians should never forget that they were stronger together.
"Malaysia's ethnic and religious diversity has been the foundation of our economic and social success. It must be preserved," he said, adding that together as one Malaysia, society can achieve progress and prosperity for all.
Wishing a wonderful Labour Day to all workers, Najib said when the government introduced the day many decades ago, it was about national aspiration and people should all rise to the challenge of renewing Malaysia.
"Today (Labour Day) is also about recognising the contributions all Malaysians have made to the strength, prosperity and harmony of our country. The ordinary workers who have made Malaysia what it is.
"So I would like to dedicate this Labour Day, May 1, 2009, to the social and economic achievements of Malaysian workers. Thank you - the results have been extraordinary. What has been built since we first honoured the Malaysian worker is extraordinary," he said.

"By and large, mothers and housewives are the only workers who do not have regular time off. They are the great vacationless class."
