More than 60,000 Umno information machinery workers in all branches throughout the country could not carry out their tasks as they did not understand the responsibilities entrusted to them.Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan said many of them did not know what to do as they were not informed of their actual task as members of the party information machinery.
"There are 20,000 Umno branch information machinery nationwide, and this figure does not include the 18,000 Wanita information heads, 15,000 Youth information heads and 7,000 Puteri information heads.
"The figure is large but many do not know their tasks and do not know what to do," he told reporters after attending a special meeting with the Information Committees of the four levels of Umno in Terengganu, here today, which was also attended by Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said.
In this context, he said he was determined to activate all the existing machinery to face the 13th general election.
He said he would go down to meet with all the information heads of the Umnio divisions and instruct them to identify the information machinery at the branch levels and activate them. - BERNAMA
tunku : so all these while umno info workers on hibernation mode.well now is the duty of ahmad maslan to make sure that these workers wakes up. make sure they are well trained and well knowledge.then make them go to the ground.they must be able to counter all the allegations made against umno/bn and the government.they must be able to explain to people of current issues.ahmad maslan, don't waste time anymore.get moving fast.looking at the numbers that umno has, there should not be problem for them to get the people at their side.if they failed that means ahmad maslan failed.

bukan jentera penerangan sahaja yang perlu diaktifkan..
tetapi ahli-ahli UMNO itu sendiri...alangkah lesunya bila setiap kali majlis penerang dibuat di cawangan-cawangan....ahli yang hadir boleh dikira jari....itu pun dipaksa..belum dikira lagi ahli-ahli hardcore yang memang ada disitu..
Jadi macamana jentera penerangan mahu berkesan jika pendengar nya tiada kuantiti dan kualiti...
Itu pasal jentera penerangan PR lebih berkesan kerana sambutan dari yang hendak mendengar penerangan tersebut adalah luarbiasa...malah ahli UMNO pun dok ada menyelit..ini adalah fakta...;-)
It is heartening to know that at least somebody recognize the problems with the umno information wing ! Those being appointed to the ketua penerangan post, at various levels, are there for the sake of filling the post without any credence attached! Most of these office bearers, know next to nothing about their role and functions. To many, information chiefs' R & F are confined to making arrangements during campaigning period only. This perception has been going on since its inception.
The question is why most of the Umno division Heads never exercise their perogative well. Why can't they appoint those with qualifications (majoring in political science, mass com as eg)?
Don't they know that information bureau should function as an intelligence service for the party? They are the one who should advise MT on the pulse of the rakyat ! They should also what's going on within and without the party.
I may dread you if I go on describin R7F of this bureau! If the new Information chief wishes to see tranformation within his bureau, get professional help.....from those in the intel!!!!

Well it is look like a good selling point now is that we all are stupid and our new kind of leader is smarter one nowaday.
Blaming the mass. The only with magic answer for our problem is only via our young leader. It is a trend nowaday with these all young chap that ALWAYS BLAMING THE MASS.
Well before blaming the Rakyat. Now blaming our own. Hmm....dangerous to our own survival by having these kind of new generation of leaders.
