Umno Will Not Readmit Anwar, Says Sec-Gen

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- Umno will not readmit expelled former deputy president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Umno Secretary-General Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad said today.
He said this was decided by the party previously and there was no change to that decision.
"Now there is talk that Anwar may rejoin Umno. I wish to state that Umno will not accept Anwar. He will not be taken back into Umno," he told reporters after a meeting of the Umno Supreme Council, here.
Radzi, who is also Home Affairs Minister, said many quarters were mentioning the possibility of the former deputy prime minister rejoining Umno.
He said the matter was also discussed at today's meeting of the party's supreme council.
"There is talk that perhaps friends of Anwar in Umno will lobby for him to rejoin (Umno)," he said.
Radzi said the Umno Constitution 2002 stated clearly that whoever opposed the party would not be accepted back into the party ever.
Asked why Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who had opposed Umno when he led Parti Melayu Semangat 46, was readmitted to Umno, Radzi said the situation was different because the party constitution had not been amended then.

tunku : so you are lucky radzi, you were readmitted back in umno.people like you should not be in umno.regarding anwar, the party constitution can be amended again to allow him to readmit and this can be done by the consent of MT.So i guess umno should made a new constitution specific for anwar that he will never be allowed to enter umno unless consent by 90% of umno members(just to be safe).
