Perak Sultan's Office Regrets Publication Of Picture

IPOH, May 8 (Bernama) -- The office of Perak's Sultan Azlan Shah, Tuesday expressed regret and disappointment that Utusan Malaysia and Kosmo had published the photo of the Raja Muda, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah's, bride-to-be before her name was announced by the palace.
This was conveyed in a letter from the palace to the two newspapers, copies of which were distributed to the media by the Perak Information Department Tuesday.
The Comptroller of the Perak royal household, Raja Datuk Seri Mansur Raja Razman, said in the letter that the royal wedding involved several protocols that must be respected because they involved the appointment and proclamation of the Raja Puan Besar of Perak.
"As such, the information, including the photo, will be issued in stages after fulfilling several ceremonies, from the solemnisation of the marriage to the bersanding ceremony," he said.
He said the publication of the photo was a clear disregard of the request by the sultan's office to the media to use official information in reports on the wedding.
The sultan's office, in a statement to Bernama yesterday, officially announced that the Raja Muda will tie the knot at Istana Iskandariah, Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar, on May 17 but did not name the bride-to-be.
It said that official statements would be released to the media from time to time to prevent sensationalised reporting and sought their cooperation to base their reports on the statements.
Utusan Malaysia and Kosmo today published the announcement of the wedding on their front page with additional information obtained from their own sources as well as the photo of Raja Nazrin's bride-to-be.
Raja Mansur that except for Utusan Malaysia and Kosmo, all the print and electronic media had respected the request to base their reports on facts and official information.
