Selangor To Also Nominate Abdullah, Najib For Posts Of Umno President, Deputy President

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- All the Umno divisional leaders in Selangor have agreed to nominate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to defend the post of Umno president at the party elections in December.
They have also agreed to nominate Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to defend the post of deputy president, Selangor Umno Liaison Committee chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib said today.
"This agreement of the leaders was stated at a meeting of the Selangor Umno Liaison Committee in Shah Alam last night," he said in a statement issued at the media centre at Parliament House, here.
Last Saturday, all the 13 Umno divisions in Penang agreed to nominate Abdullah and Najib to defend the posts of president and deputy president, respectively, at the Umno elections.

tunku : first penang's umno made a statement and now selangor.after this may be from kedah, perak and perhaps every state except sarawak will announce that they endorsed pak lah and najib's team.pak lah's mans are working hard 24/7 to "force" every division to accept pak lah as the president and najib as deputy and kj as youth leader. money are flowing everywhere by our mr clean.i can't say much, let's wait the division meeting this october.by then we will know the real scenario.

PM: Political stability will soon be restored

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s economy can hit the 5% growth target this year as the fundamentals are strong, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.
He also said that the authorities were committed to ensuring businesses could run smoothly.
“I think 5% is achievable,” he said in an interview yesterday.
“We have to manage, reduce the negative impact. Next year we will see what happens, because a lot of things are happening so fast, the volatility of the world economy is very high,” he said.
Abdullah, who is also Finance Minister, said political stability would soon be restored.
“It will stabilise. If we work hard, soon it will stabilise. If we don’t work hard for it, then of course anything can happen. All of us have to cooperate,” he said.
Abdullah, who has had calls for him to step down following the poor showing of the Barisan Nasional in the recent general election, said he was ready to take action to stamp out political instability but declined to say what he might do.
“If we think it’s necessary, at the right time, why not?” Abdullah said, when asked if he was prepared to crack the whip.
“It will be irresponsible not to use that,” he said.
Abdullah pledged to continue with business-friendly policies.
“We will continue to take whatever measures necessary to ensure that the investment climate in Malaysia will continue to be favourable,” he said. – Reuters

tunku : political stability will be restored once you are out for good pak lah. till then there will be no political stability in this country.can we live comfortably with the 5% growth? can the figure improves our living standard? the inflation rate is getting higher and higher, so what so great about 5% growth?

Dr M Defends Najib, Says Anwar Has Motive Behind Allegations

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in a statement to defend Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, on Monday claimed that allegations thrown against the Deputy Prime Minister were mere hearsay and was done with a political motive.
"I don't know why he (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) should go for Datuk Najib. It wasn't Datuk Najib who reported his behaviour. I think he has always been attacking Datuk Najib. Maybe he thinks that Datuk Najib is standing in his way of becoming the Deputy Prime Minister (or) Prime Minister.
"Anwar cannot join Umno...I don't think Umno will accept him. The allegations against him (Najib) were all hearsay. There is no proof. You just say that he did something, but you have to give proof. You can't just say that ''I heard somebody did this''. That is not proof," said the former Prime Minister, when met by reporters after he paid a courtesy call on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is here for the 6th Eight Developing Islamic Countries Summit.
Dr Mahathir was commeting on allegations made by Anwar, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader, who claimed that Najib was involved in the murder case of Altantunya Shaaribu, a Mongolian citizen, who was found brutally murdered last year.
Three people, including political analyst Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda, are facing charges for the alleged offence.
Last week, in another explosive revelation, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 23, who was employed as one of Anwar's aides lodged a police report stating that he was sodomised by Anwar.
"There is a concerted campaign against Najib. I don't know why. Not just by Anwar, this other chap, (blogger) Raja Petra also, and a number of others. Somebody is working behind this, maybe to undermine Najib's possiblity of challenging the Prime Minister," Dr Mahathir alleged.
Asked what he thought of the current political situation in the country, he said;" I think they (the present administration) don't want to talk about politics anymore. They want to work so I'm going to look at them working."
To another question whether the current political situation in the country would effect the economy, he claimed that it could as the situation would not encourage people from coming to Malaysia.

tunku : yes, they are working hard to demonized najib , to stop him from challenging pak lah in the coming party's election. so najib should know by now that the threat is coming from within the camp too and he has to fight all the way. anwar seldom attacks pak lah only when he is forced to, but najib always, wonder why?

The battle for Umno supremacy

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has apparently sown up nominations from his home state of Penang to defend his party presidency.
All 13 division leaders at the Penang Umno liaison committee meeting on Saturday have unanimously decided to nominate Abdullah as the party chief and Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as deputy for another term.
The startling announcement was made by committee deputy chief Abdul Rashid Abdullah after emerging from a three-hour meeting chaired by Abdullah, who is incidentally the state liaison chief.
The question on everyone’s lips is ‘why so soon’ since nominations for party posts would only be made when Umno’s 191 divisions hold their annual general meetings (AGM) in October. Before that, its 10,000 branches would be having their respective AGMs from mid-July.
Clearly, Abdullah is not taking his chances.
Obviously, he wants to ensure that all the president’s men would grab the leadership in the upcoming branch polls, which in turn will dominate the division leadership and this will inevitably lead to nominations.
Many see a certain Kelantan prince from Gua Musang, veteran party leader Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, to fight for Umno supremacy in the December party polls.
The more dangerous challenger
But reliable party sources indicated that the premier was in a hurry to secure as many nominations possible because of another potential challenger.
He is none other than Najib, who has been working hard laying out the groundwork to capture the president’s seat.
Najib’s plan is simple - get more nominations than Abdullah for the president post, enough to show the incumbent he should go without a contest. His running mate is likely to be party vice-president Muhyiddin Yassin.
Najib agents have been moving up and down the country to convince Umno division leaders to secure their boss more than 50 percent, or a minimum 100 nominations, for the Umno presidency.
“If Najib could muster it, Abdullah may have to step down because he had fewer nominations than his deputy,” explained an Umno leader from Penang.
Under Umno rules, a member must muster 30 percent, or 58 nominations, from the party’s 191 divisions to be eligible to contest for the top post. For the deputy president, one has to get 20 percent nominations.
Abdullah however is not sitting on his hands either.
A party leader from Kedah said Abdullah had been sending words to Umno divisions across the country to give him a big mandate to continue as party president, which traditionally ensures premiership so long Umno has federal power.
Sensing Najib’s imminent coup de tat, Abdullah’s agents too are working hard in Penang and elsewhere to secure large chunk of division nominations for their boss.
Some state leaders are expected to emulate Penang Umno’s decision in the coming weeks, but a majority of the division heads would prefer to ‘wait and see’ before deciding on who to pick.
Abdullah is however expected to still defend his president’s post even if he received only a minimum number of nominations or another Umno leader has received sufficient nominations to challenge him.
“But it will be embarrassing for the premier to scrap through with minimum nominations,” said a Perak leader.
Najib plans to overwhelm Pak Lah
Sources also said the president had been well-informed that his political opponents would spend millions to secure more than enough nominations for the top two posts to embarrass Abdullah and seize power without a challenge.
But if Plan A fails to work, Najib’s camp has a plan B to compel Abdullah to set a specific date for the eventual transfer of power by 2010.
Najib’s moves have received widespread support from Umno politicians, who see the party number two as more-than-qualified to take over the reigns.
But of late, the deputy premier’s image has been tainted by the mystery murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shariibuu. Party members are utterly confused with unanswered questions surrounding the murder case. “Prior to these controversies, Najib could have secured more than half of Kedah’s 15 divisional nominations, but his reputation has since suffered a severe setback,” said an Umno politician from the state.
The deputy premier’s agents however are already working out plans to counter the allegations to reduce the impact of the scandal on Umno divisional nominations and delegates attending the Umno general assembly at year end.
Abdullah, while pleasing and charming for many Umno members, is being blamed - to certain extent - for inaction in handling controversies such as the Altantuya murder case.
He is viewed as ‘ineffective and indecisive’ in handling the statutory declaration drama staged by private investigator P Balasubramaniam or Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim’s constant attacks against Najib and the government.
Abdullah is also seen as listening too much to his family members and a handful of self-interest advisors in decision-making.
But as prime miniser, he is not adverse in using the enormous power of incumbency to get backing from Umno powerbrokers.
Umno’s ‘born to rule’ mentality
He is actively looking after the ‘welfare’ of Umno division leaders in the five Pakatan Rakyat states and those who have lost their power such as former mentri besar Shahidan Kassim of Perlis and Idris Jusoh of Terengganu.
Although both Shahidan and Idris were forced to relinquish their government positions, nonetheless the duo still command influential grassroots support.
Umno leaders and members have been living with the ‘born to rule’ mentality, monopolising power and business without being questioned by anyone.
But since the March 8 watershed general election, the ruling party could no longer do things according to its ‘whims and fancies.’
Party leaders are aghast with the new situation and they do not know whether to blame Abdullah, the party president or Najib, the Barisan Nasional election operations chief.
However, they are sure to vent their anger and frustration at Umno branch AGMs this month, kick-starting a five-month political drama that could possibly end with a new leader at the helm.

tunku : the umno branches and divisions should be brave enough not to nominate pak lah as the president . the penang divisions stand are understood. they are no longer the government in penang and have no more fund,so it's easier to "buy over". after all kj is touring the whole nation except sarawak which can bring no gain to him at this moment. pak lah agents too are working hard day and night trying to get the support from the divisions.
pak lah came with this idea that there will be no outside leaders coming to officiate the division meetings which will harm or jeopardize his chances. leaders like muhyiddin, najib, rais yatim,ku li etc can influence the division not to nominates him.so he came up with this new brilliant 'ruling' which favours him. as for bala's statutory declaration, don't be surprised that it was plotted by umno insiders with the help of outsiders.may be that's why he's missing. suddenly there is najib's bashing moment after all the while it was mahathir's bashing moment. after the bashing, penang came out with a statement that all their divisions will nominate pak lah as the president. we hope umno members will make a difference now as there is a chance to do so before it's too late and bring disaster to the party in the coming 13th general election. you still have time , change the rotten head.don't falls into his traps and plots.

Syed Ali Urges Information Minister To Call Off Debate With Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek has been urged not to go ahead with the debate with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim scheduled for July 15.
Cheras Umno division chief, Senator Syed Ali Al-Habshee, said Ahmad Shabery should not entertain Anwar and give him an opportunity to debate on various issues.
"What is the importance of the debate to the people and country?" he asked in a statement to Bernama here Monday.
Syed Ali questioned the Information Ministry's action in giving the opportunity for Anwar to debate as it was irrational and not benefiting the Malays.
He also called on the mass media not to provide coverage for various statements made by Anwar.
"There is no use for the media to provide coverage for Anwar's activities and statements as there are many other issues that should be given priority, especially the government's agenda in looking after the people," said the senator.
He also slammed the attitude of an English-language tabloid that he said had lately been providing wide coverage on issues related to Anwar and his party's political agenda.
"I urge the Home Ministry to monitor the newspaper's reports to determine if they are confusing the public with Anwar's political games," Syed Ali said.
Last week, Ahmad Shabery said he would go ahead with the debate with Anwar on the fuel price hike although various quarters had asked him not to.
Both men had confirmed their participation in the debate themed "Form the Government Today, Reduce the Oil Price Tomorrow", organised by news portal 'Agenda Daily' and to be held at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka hall.

tunku : if shabery challenges anwar or accepted the challenge, that means he is brave enough to face anwar. so let it be, why we want to call off the debate.the only thing is the debate should only debate on the oil price issue not other than that.both party should only debate on the main agenda but i doubt anwar will follow instruction or anwar will just back off from the debate.about the english language tabloid that had lately been providing wide coverage on issues related to Anwar ,let it be. at last the truth will prevails, worry not.

Samy Vellu slams former protege

KUALA LUMPUR: Former MIC Youth chief S.A. Vigneswaran was good at chairing meetings but failed to come up with clear programmes and policies to uplift Indian youths, said party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu yesterday.
In his first attack after his former protege asked him to step down, Samy Vellu said Vigneswaran had failed in his responsibilities, as there were more cases of Indian youths involved in juvenile problems and murders reported in the newspapers.
“He (Vigneswaran) should have focused his attention on the problems faced by the Indian youth apart from resolving the problems within the MIC Youth,” he told reporters after the joint opening of the MIC Wanita, Youth, Puteri and Putera MIC wings' annual general assembly.
Vigneswaran, who was asked to relinquish his Youth chief post after having passed the age limit of 41 years, announced his resignation from the party on June 29.
He had said that he would only rejoin the party after Samy Vellu steps down as the president.
Samy Vellu said that he would not be cowed by threats from people who want to disrupt his functions in the various states.
“I know who is behind this. It is coming from Selangor. We are not be afraid of their sandiwara,” he said, adding that elected leaders were required to work for the community.
He said that he had picked Vigneswaran from the streets, appointed him to the youth chief's post and recommended him to contest for a parliamentary seat and made him a parliamentary secretary.
Samy Vellu said Vigneswaran was now the loser as he could have waited and contested for a higher post in the party elections.
Earlier in his speech, Samy Vellu said certain leaders of the party's youth wing were only interested in achieving their political ambitions through cheap publicity.
“These leaders refuse to thrash out matters involving the party and the community through discussions but prefer to engage in cheap publicity stunts that could only damage and weaken the party.”
He said the 41-year age limit was imposed to provide more opportunities to capable and eligible younger generations to serve in various capacities in the youth wing at the divisional and state level.

tunku : any one who attacks samy is a 'bad person' in mic's dictionary(since 1980s) and so does in umno, any one attacks the president is a 'bad person'(since 2003).

Anwar and accuser both willing to swear on Quran

PETALING JAYA: PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his accuser Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan said they are willing to swear on the Quran over the sodomy allegations.
“I am prepared to swear (on the Quran) if the ulama advise me to,” Anwar said at the rally to protest the fuel price hike at Kelana Jaya Stadium.
He said however that the ulama should be “credible”.

He added that Perak mufti Datuk Seri Harussani Zakaria and the former Federal Territory mufti Datuk Hashim Yahya had advised him that any such allegation should be handled according to Islam and there should be witnesses.
Sources told M-Star Online that Saiful, who is currently under police protection, also agreed to the suggestion by the Mufti of Perlis, Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, to clear his name.
It is learnt that a statement on the matter will be made soon.
Dr Mohd Asri had suggested that the question of who was speaking the truth in the sodomy issue could be resolved by both swearing on the Quran if the matter could not be resolved through court.

tunku : this means anwar is saying that dr asri and nik aziz is not credible ulama. to another question he said he's willing to be charged if there is 4 witnesses to the incident. this means 4 people have to see the sodomy act till finish then report it to the police?????? moron.he just taking any "BULLSHIT'' that can save him.

Those Who Want To Lay Off Politics

I read with amusement today’s headlines in the STAR newspaper, “Simply fed-up.”
I am not sure whether the newspaper conducted a poll when it reported:
“STOP the bickering and get cracking .. that is the cry of Malaysians who want to see an end to all the politicking that has gripped the nation … And even the bloggers are getting sick of all the shenanigans – and are laying off politics for a while.”
As if one can lay off politics! Politics is not a TV or radio show which one can switch on or off according to one’s whims and fancies.
The bloggers and main-stream journalists who want to “lay off politics” remind me of the proverbial ostrich burying its head in the sand.
Is “laying off politics” by bloggers such a big deal that it should be given front page? So what is the agenda?
One commented that “there are more important things in life, like how someone is going to feed his family.” What a belated realization and it does nobody any good when it does not pinpoint the culprit for the present financial mess. It is so cliché.
What a kop out, if ever there was one! These bloggers can afford the luxury of switching off politics, but the entire nation demands accountability and that the rotten Badawi fish head to be removed now!
We do not have the luxury to switch off because with each passing day that the rotten fish head remains as Prime Minister, the closer we are to a financial catastrophe worse than the 1997 financial crisis. And there will be blood flowing on the streets.
If anyone wants to bail out when the going gets tough, please do so but do not try to make an issue out of it. You will not be sorely missed. No one is indispensable in this common struggle to get rid of the rotten fish head!
The Fog of War
There is an ongoing political war that is downright mean and dirty. It can get confusing at times.
But should we be surprised that this war is dirty and slimy when it has all to do with the power and control of the nation’s money-making machine? Since when is a political struggle for power a tea party at the Ascots?
This war was started by Badawi and spearheaded by his son-in-law and his band of spin doctors. And while they are fanning the flames of war to divert the attention of the rakyat, they are busy looting the treasury.
Since 2004, the nation has sunk to its eyeballs in the cesspool of corruption, outright plunder and looting, abuse of power, disinformation and false flag operations.
What the entire nation is witnessing is the most intense political struggle for power by three contenders in recent history – more intense and dirty than that of the 1987 and 1997 struggles.
The three contenders are the rotten fish head (Badawi), his Deputy and Anwar Ibrahim.
And if one examines closely the modus operandi of the respective contenders, there is a common thread: to abuse Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and his previous administration – to justify in the case of Badawi, his hold on power, for Anwar Ibrahim, his rationale for seizing power, and Najib Tun Razak, by his “elegant silence” regarding such character assassination, his hope to inherit power.
While they oppose each other, they also connived with each other to gain tactical advantage when opportunities arise.
When Anwar was let loose from prison, it was a given that he would go on a rampage to discredit Tun Mahathir’s administration. Badawi was counting on a slugfest between the two, so that he could avoid the spotlight and continue to foster the “Mr. Clean” image.
It did not materialize as expected, so the barking dogs were let loose and the mass media was orchestrated to do the dirty work. Badawi did not count on, or underestimated that Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad would come out fighting. From 2006 to early 2008, the spotlight was focused on the rotten fish head. Badawi was freaking out.
He was in a quandary and was out of options. Najib was content to watch from the sidelines, for when elephants clash, one should get out of the way.
Anwar had his own calculations – Badawi and Najib are easy meat. But not Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. He is Anwar’s worst nightmare.
The Political Wayang Kulit (Shadow Play)
Both Badawi and Anwar needed to neutralize Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The Royal Commission to investigate the “Lingam Tapes” just before the General Elections was the perfect ploy in their estimation. For Badawi, it was a welcome distraction from the persistent criticisms by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. For Anwar, it was a worthwhile trade off as it enabled him to exact revenge and the publicity for himself and his fledging party during the General Elections.
Others were only too eager to join the bandwagon as they have their own agenda. They were the eager extras in the Bollywood movie.
The Royal Commission failed to deliver the expected knock-out blow. Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad survived the unprecedented onslaught. His enemies even prayed that he would not recover and survive the heart operation. When Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad entered the lion’s den of the Royal Commission, healthy and resilient, they almost had a heart attack!
So back to the drawing board for the power grabbers!
In my previous posting, I had already explained how Badawi played Najib against Anwar, in the hope that the two will kill each other. This is not unlike Britain’s strategy during the Second World War, to make Germany fight the Soviet Union and when the two warring countries have exhausted themselves, to pick up the pieces.
However, if both contenders were to be finished off, there is still the Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad factor. Najib would not dare put a dagger in the back of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. But Anwar may be persuaded to kill two birds with one stone – Najib and Mahathir!
This is the background to Badawi’s connivance in agreeing to Anwar’s demand that investigations be conducted into certain allegations against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney-General, notwithstanding that these are wild allegations.
Why target the IGP and the Attorney-General?
They were responsible for the conviction of Anwar on the corruption charge. Having obtained the acquittal on the sodomy charge, Anwar knows that unless he gets a further review of the corruption conviction, he cannot by any stretch of imagination aspire to be the Prime Minister. No convicted criminal can be a Prime Minister, more so when his conviction was affirmed by two different panels of judges of the Federal Court.
Anwar has to discredit the IGP because the IGP was the officer who was directed by Anwar to coerce Azizan to retract his complaint against Anwar for sodomy. This evidence was never rebutted by Anwar’s defence team at the trial and was a crucial factor in the conviction of Anwar for abusing his power as Deputy Prime Minister in getting a Special Branch officer to compel the complainant to retract his complaint.
So many reports have been filed with the police with regard to abuse of power and corruption by members of the Badawi administration, but investigations into these complaints have been tardy.
But the ACA has already commenced investigations against the IGP and the Attorney-General.
Once again, we have to ask the US$ Trillion question – Who is the main beneficiary of all this theatrics?
The spotlight is now on the three main threats to Badawi and no one seems to be focusing on the rotten fish head.
Not me. I have no intention to turn the lights off and “lay off politics” like some bloggers.
So ask yourself, whose interests are we serving, when at this critical juncture, we turn the spotlight away from the rotten fish head and lay off politics?
So what if things turn ugly and dirty? We are not the ones who are dumping the shit and shoving people into the cesspool. These bloggers can hold their noses to avoid the stench from the cesspool, but they would not be able to do so for long. They cannot open their mouth for fear of swallowing the shits. They have to breathe to survive. What then?
*******!
This is my call. Get deep into politics. Do not be afraid of the dirt and the shit. We have to clean the shit and get out of the cesspool. We must all pull together.
First and foremost, get rid of the rotten Badawi fish head!
Then, get rid of Anwar Ibrahim, the usurper!
Finally, let the due process of law determine the fate of Najib.

Then and then only can we rebuild a New Malaysia.
Laying-off politics is not an option! It is a fantasy, a LSD trip that will lead you nowhere.
We are not going to a tea party at the Ascots. We are getting rid of scoundrels, crooks and scumbags that have destroyed our country.

tunku : yea, i did not join the bloggers call for blogging strike.like what matthias chang said get deep into politics.

Hisham: Unite against attacks on Umno

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth members have been urged to set aside party nomination thoughts and to stand united against attacks on the party and its leadership, said its chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
“We feel it is time for all members at every level to come together to ward off ill intentions by certain parties, especially Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who clearly wants to destroy the party, bring disrepute to the leaders and taint the country's image,” he said in a statement Sunday.
Hishammuddin said Umno Youth would continue to defend the party and leadership and urged all members to stand united to defend the nation, race, religion and Malay Rulers.
“It is pointless to fight for positions and win if our party is weak and purposely being destroyed by enemies outside.
“Anwar's actions and mischief to divert the public's attention from the sodomy allegation against him proves that he does not care about the country and the people's peace but just wants to destroy Malaysia,” he claimed.
Hishammuddin said they would go down to the ground to inject the spirit of Umno Youth at the grassroots level as well as expose the recent lies and mischief.
“Umno Youth will not keep quiet about this matter. I myself will be going to the various states with my Youth exco, beginning with Johor,” he added.

tunku : yes we must unite and fight the enemy from outside but must never forget to fight the enemy from inside too. pak lah and his boys are taking advantage on the anwar issue right now so that the members will tend to forget on the party's coming election. i think hisham should set example if he wants members to listen to his advice that it's pointless to fight for positions and win, he should announce that he will not contest any post in the coming election.

Thousands throng Kelana Jaya stadium

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of protestors, led by several NGOs and Pakatan Rakyat leaders thronged the Kelana Jaya stadium here Sunday in protest against the recent fuel hike.
People from all walks of life were seen wearing red shirts, emblazoned with the word "Protes" to voice their dissent.
Some had turned up as early as 8am, via buses from all over the country while others came with their family and children in cars, walked from Kelana Jaya LRT station and cycled there in groups.
The huge crowd however, did not entice the expected heavy police presence.
Only policemen in a few patrol cars were seen monitoring the area. There were also police personnel at several mobile police stations outside the stadium.
About 2,500 volunteers from PAS Youth, Keadilan Youth and Unit Amal Malaysia were at the stadium to manage security.
Outside, it was a carnival-like scene with traders doing brisk business selling food and drinks, T-shirts, CDs, perfumes and souvenirs. Several traders spoken to were even too busy to answer questions.
Leaders from Pakatan Rakyat, Hindraf and Suaram rallied the crowd with speeches and shouts of Reformasi! and Minyak turun! since Sunday morning.
The speakers also used the rally as a platform to raise recent issues plaguing the country's political scene.
Organising chairman Dr Hatta Ramli later urged attendants to gather more people to the already swelling crowd in the afternoon.
Other NGO leaders and members who spoke later also constantly reminded the crowd to send SMSes to their friends to join the rally.
The event later took an hour break at around 1pm for lunch and Zohor prayers.
By 4pm, the crowds had doubled as the roars of "Hidup Rakyat" continued to be heard.

Rocker strips pants and bends down at audience

PETALING JAYA: A singer stripped his trousers and showed his boxer shorts during a concert at the anti-fuel price increase rally in Kelana Jaya stadium Sunday.
The lead singer of rock band Carburettor Dung was halfway through a song at about 7pm when he dropped his pants and exposed his boxer shorts.
His antics resulted in the audience hurling abuses and throwing bottles at him. Security volunteers had to escort the singer and his band members off the stage while event organisers tried to calm the crowd.
It is learnt that prior to his strip performance, the singer was singing a song that included lyrics poking fun at the sodomy allegations against PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
A member of the audience who did not want to be named described the act as inappropriate as there were children present at the event.
Another man, who also wanted to be anonymous, said it was very unprofessional of the singer, adding that he was very upset because many VIPs, including Anwar would be present.
As the situation came under control, event coordinator Hishamuddin Rais came out to apologise for the incident.
The organisers then called for a break for Maghrib prayers.

Boycott by PAS volunteers

In another development, 700 members of the PAS volunteer unit known as Unit Amal, have boycotted the rally over another rock band Lawan Tetap Lawan's performance earlier this afternoon.
The maroon-clad Unit Amal volunteers were part of the event's security and traffic detail and were apparently upset over the punk band's performance which they felt was unsuitable at such an event.
Federal Territories PAS Unit Amal chief Sharifuddin Mohd Yatim confirmed that his volunteers had withdrawn from the event.

tunku : i thought they targeted 1 million, only 15-20 thousands came. anyway it was more like a carnival thing.the police did good job and there was no ugly incident happened except for the rockers strip show.lucky pas volunteers boycotted the rally , i was thinking that they were part of the "unislamic consert" but their leaders did not boycott.

Anwar challenges PM and DPM to debate on fuel prices

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has challenged the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister to a live debate on July 15 to discuss how to tackle the oil crisis and reduce petrol and diesel prices.
He said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak kept saying that there was no way that fuel prices could come down in view of the high global oil price.
"They don't know how to bring down the prices. I am prepared to take on the Prime Minister and the deputy Prime Minister and even the whole cabinet to debate the matter live on television," he said at a protest rally at the Kelana Jaya stadium Sunday night.
The de facto leader of PKR is already slated to debate the issue live with Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek on July 15.
Anwar said the Prime Minister should not give excuses why his government had to hike up the prices drastically.
"I challenge him to a debate. There are some people who ask me: Anwar, are you sure you can conclusively bring down fuel prices? My answer is yes," he said.
He repeated his belief that if Pakatan Rakyat were to take over the country tomorrow, it would be able to bring down the oil prices the following day.
DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said in his speech earlier that the increase in petrol and diesel price had trigged a total crisis of confidence in the leadership of Barisan Nasional.
He said Pak Lah's government had pledged reforms in the police, judiciary and the anti-corruption agency but so far nothing had come out of it.
He said the proposal for the judicial commission was still hanging in the air, while the proposal to set up independent police conduct and misconduct commission (IPCMC) had fallen into deaf ears and it questionable how independent the proposed anti-corruption commission would really be.
"Last time too, there was corruption but at least things got done. But now there is still corruption but the difference is that things do not get done," he said.
Lim hoped the message at the gathering would get across to the Barisan government.
At the end of the event, a man who tried to climb on stage when Anwar was delivering his speech was cornered and beaten up by supporters. The man was said to have shouted out Anwar's name before attempting to get close to the leader who was on his way out.

tunku : if anwar has ways than i'm sure other countries would have use his service to bring the price down.anyway why challenging when there's already a debate between you and shabery set on 15th July 08. trying to divert again.pity the man who tried to climb on the stage, he must be die hard supporter/fan of anwar.

Nurul Izzah Is Fed Up With Accusations Against Father

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- Lembah Pantai member of parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar said Saturday she was fed up with the latest accusation against her father, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"I'm fed up with it. For 10 years we have been forced to live with such a slanderous accusation against him," she told reporters at the 25th anniversary of the Saidina Abu Bakkar As-Siddiq Mosque in Bangsar.
She, however, said it would not distract her from fulfilling her responsibilities to her constituents.
Nurul Izzah also said she was leaving the matter to the authorities and hoped that the investigations would be conducted in a thorough and fair manner.
Anwar is facing a fresh allegation of sodomy when a former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 23, lodged a police report on June 28, alleging that the former deputy prime minister had sodomised him.

tunku : well tell your father to change his bad habits. i pity you and the family.

Pick A Civilised Platform, Shabery Tells Anwar

ISLA MAGARITA (Venezuela), July 5 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ought to use a proper forum to deliver his views on the oil issue instead going to the streets, Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said.
He said a debate was a more civilised platform to voice out at the present moment compared to street demonstations and therefore Anwar should make use of his readiness to debate the issue on July 15 so that the people could make their on assessment.
"It is an opportunity for him to state his views. I have points backing the goverment. Let's meet face to face, let the people judge.
"Rallies are not necessary. This is Anwar's old method. He must remember he is not longer a student leader," said Shabery who is here for the Seventh Conference of Ministers of Information of Non-Aligned Countries.
He said Anwar's promise to reduce oil prices should Pakatan Rakyat form the government was an "empty promise" to gain people's support and would probably force the country to submit to foreign powers for having to take up loans.
"Do we want once again put the country into the shackle of the International Monetary Fund which Anwar had done when he was Finance Minister?.
I hope the people are not hoodwinked by Anwar's personal agenda," he said.
Shabery also urged the people not to let themselves become a tool by Anwar who was pinned by personal problems.

tunku : i hope anwar will not chicken out this time.the debate which is scheduled 15th July must go on and we hope anwar will not mention about the sodomy accusation at all.we hope that shabery side too won't call off the debate.

Anwar challenges authorities to take him to court

BUTTERWORTH: PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has challenged the authorities to take him to court if there is solid evidence against him on the latest sodomy allegations.
He said the Government should first ensure a fair trial and select only judges who were credible and not those who could only say "correct, correct, correct."
Anwar reiterated that the latest sodomy allegations against him were a conspiracy by his enemies to kill him politically and to shut him up.
He also questioned the credibility of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail over the sodomy case as he had lodged a police report against them.
Anwar also denied any link with the United States. He was speaking to a large crowd during a ceramah at the Seberang Jaya expo site here Saturday night.

tunku : wait for the police to complete their investigation you moron. again the drama queen diverting the main issue that he is accused of sodomizing, he is questioning musa's and ghani's credibility.when they have the evidence, they will charge you in court, you don't have to remind them drama queen.

Meanwhile, Najib, who is also the Pekan Member of Parliament, hoped that the meetings at the branch level in Pekan this month would proceed without any problem.
A total of 139 Umno branches in Pekan will start their meetings on July 17 with the Pekan division having the largest membership in Pahang with 32,087 members.

tunku : tunku we pray to ALLAH that the guilty will be punish in the present world, so we all will know the truth.

Khairy Considering Suing Raja Petra

LANGKAWI, July 5 (Bernama) -- Rembau Member of Parliament Khairy Jamaluddin is leaving it to his lawyer whether to take action against blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin for alleging that he had in his possession a military report on the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Khairy, however, said he had to study the implications first as it involved many procedures.
"I leave it to my lawyers to study and consider whether such an action is appropriate," he told reporters after attending the Ayer Hangat state constituency traditional games at Tanjung Rhu here Saturday.
Khairy denied having the report and had given his statement to Putrajaya police on June 24.
In his statutory declaration on June 18, Raja Petra, the editor of news portal Malaysia Today, claimed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had received a written military report on the murder which he handed over to his son-in-law Khairy for "safe-keeping."
Abdullah had also refuted the allegation.

tunku : in langkawi busy lobbying for ketua pemuda. anyway what are you waiting for, sue him if the allegation is baseless.

Political drama is a plot by Anwar, says Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad claims that all the high-stake political drama now playing before the eyes of the public is a result of the plotting by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"I am not seeking sympathy from anyone. But it is a little bit too much to expect me to forget and forgive something that is happening now as a result of Anwar's plotting.

"Anwar has succeeded in blackening my name in the United States and Europe of course, but also in Muslim countries. They all think I simply threw him in prison for political reasons.

"He never said anything about how he was tried, how he was defended by nine lawyers, how the judge wrote a 360-page judgment against him, how his appeals were thrown out twice," Mahathir said in his blog www.chedet.com.

Dr Mahathir added, "He (Anwar) has sued me for RM100mil. He has successfully caused my lawyer to lose credibility. Now I have no lawyer to defend me against his suit. I still have this suit against me."

Anwar, he said, had now turned his attention on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

"As usual he (Anwar) has found someone to make incriminating statements for him. There seems to be no connection between his plotting against me and his attack against Najib.

"But if we look into who would be the beneficiary, we would see the connection," Dr Mahathir insinuated but did not name the person concerned. - Bernama

tunku : it's funny all the attack on najib by anwar, why he did not attack pak lah at all? is there any compromise between them? as for anwar the drama queen, we all knows how good he is in plotting.

Najib,Anwar and Saiful should swear on the Quran

Swear on the Quran, Anwar told

Putera Umno today challenged PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to swear on the Quran rather than resorting to the media with ‘lies’ to prove his innocence.
“Come and join us and head to Masjid Negara. Putera Umno is willing to be the middleman.
Let everyone from PKR, PAS and even Umno convene with the Perlis mufti Asri Zainul Abidin, and witness Anwar and Saiful (Bukhari Azlan) swear on the Quran of their innocence,” said Putera Umno chairperson Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
He was referring to the mufti’s statement this morning, asking for the two implicated in the sodomy allegation to swear on the Quran.
Anwar has been accused by his former aide Saiful of sodomy. He has denied the charges, and since has been instrumental in bringing out fresh allegations of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak being involved with murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.
“Why is he using the media? Why does he want to divert the public attention by giving confusing statements? I think this is the best method (to prove it),” Abdul Azeez added.
Enough of lies
The president stressed that Putera Umno had enough of the lies thrown at their party leaders.
“I'm here to tell Anwar, don't think that we are cowards. We're not scared of anyone and we obey our party leaders.”
tunku : i guess losers like azeez should not boast.
Speaking in a last-minute press conference in Kg Attap, Abdul Azeez was adamant Anwar would not take the Putera challenge.
“If he’s a gentleman, he’ll take it. We are all principled Muslims.
“He has been criticising the prime minister for weeks. Now he has diverted his attention to Najib. Don't think we will be quiet forever. We are capable of action, but we will act according to the law,” said Abdul Azeez.
He said people should allow the courts and police to do their job.
“He should stop (with all the accusations). We have courts, we have the police force. Just believe that they will carry out their responsibilities impartially,” he said.

tunku : we malaysian challenge Anwar,Saiful and Najib to swear on the Quran at Masjid Negara . Are they brave enough to do so ? Let Dr Asri become the middleman not azeez. let anwar swear on Quran that he never ever sodomized anyone including saiful, let saiful swear on Quran that anwar sodomized him and najib swear on Quran that he never had anything, any connection to altantuya or the murder of altantuya. I hope they will accept this challenge.

Mukriz Believes Saiful's Sodomy Accusation To Be True

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said Friday he believed the sodomy accusation made by a former aide of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim aide to be true.
"I am not surprised Anwar has been accused again for sodomy," he said in a statement here.
Mukhriz said Anwar, in making wild accusations about others now, was actually trying to divert people's attention from the sodomy issue.
The Jerlun MP said the fact that Anwar initially "ran" into the Turkish Embassy here, was itself an admission of guilt.
Mukriz said he was not also surprised by the U.S State Department's warning not to take action against Anwar.
After all, he said, as the President of the Foundation of the Future, Anwar received a US$35 million (RM100 million) grant from the State Department.
"This proves Anwar has more than a normal relationship with the U.S government," he added.

tunku : not only mukhriz believes but we too believes that he is involved in sodomy activities.about saiful, we are not sure yet but sukma, azizan etc we beleive it happened.now that mukhriz has said it, i'm sure anwar will attack him or his father soon.he will start jumping again, may be tomorrow at the rally.

Balasubramaniam's Statutory Declaration Stands, Says Bar Council President

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 -- The statutory declaration made by private investigator P. Balasubramaniam linking Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu, cannot be withdrawn, says Bar Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan.
She said the statutory declaration was made in accordance with the procedure and sealed by a Commissioner of Oaths.
"A statutory declaration is a document that contains evidence given on oath. It is sworn before a commissioner for oaths. As in the case of all evidence given under oath, it cannot be withdrawn," she said.
However, she said, a statutory declaration could be supplemented or corrected.
"... and just as in the case a witness giving false evidence in court, anyone who swears a false declaration can commit an offence," she told Bernama when contacted.
Yesterday, Balasubramaniam, who had testified in the Altantuya murder trial, called a news conference to reveal his 16-page statutory declaration dated July 1, containing allegations about the slain Mongolian's involvement with Najib.
However, at 11.30am Friday, Balasubramaniam announced that he was retracting the entire statutory declaration.
He also issued a new declaration in which he said that his previous statements were inaccurate and not the truth.
Meanwhile, lawyer Datuk Hazman Ahmad, who is representing Chief Insp Azilah Hadri, the first accused in the Altantuya murder case, said Balasubramaniam had the right to substitute his previous statutory declaration with a new one.
"He doesn't need to go through court process to come up with a new statutory declaration, but the question is, what is the status of the previous declaration?
"Is this amounting to cheating? It's up to the Attorney- General to take actions," he said when contacted.
Lawyer Hasnal Redzua Marican, who is representing Corporal Sirul Azhar Omar, the second accused in the same case, said there were no provisions under which the statutory declaration could be retracted.
Lawyer Amer Hamzah Arsyad described Balasubramaniam's action as inappropriate as if he was making a mockery of the country's laws.
He said the former policeman should have been firm with his allegations.

tunku : fine, his first statutory declaration stands , then Bala should be charged for cheating.he should be brought to justice. he should be trial for this declaration and let the public knows the truth.as a citizen of malaysia, i want to know the truth as why he withdraws the first declaration.is the first one was odne under duress or the second one? any way police is investigating both the declarations, so let us wait for it.

PI retracts stunning statutory declaration

Private detective P Balasubramaniam today retracted his stunning statutory declaration which had linked Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to murdered Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.
MCPX
The said declaration also had claims that Najib had a sexual relationship with Altantuya and that he was the one who had introduced Altantuya to Abdul Razak Baginda.
Balasubramaniam said that he was forced to make the declaration under duress. At a press conference in a hotel in Kuala Lumpur this morning, he produced a new statutory declaration .
Also with the PI was his new lawyer. His lawyer, Americk Sidhu, who was with him yesterday was unaware of the latest development. The press conference is still underway.
Yesterday Balasubramaniam made shocking revelations that he had heard from Abdul Razak himself on the links between Najib and Altantuya.
But today he said that he wanted to withdraw the first statutory declaration filed on July 1 and replace it with the new one which he revealed today.
"I wish to retract the first declaration. I was compelled to affirm the July 1 declaration under duress," he said. He however did not reveal who forced him to affirm the first declaration.
Balasubramaniam was hired by Abdul Razak to deal with Altantuya in 2006 when she started ‘harassing' the former head of think-tank and a close confidant of Najib.

PI retracts parts of declaration

KUALA LUMPUR: Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda's private investigator P. Balasubramaniam on Friday retracted several paragraphs of his statutory declaration which he made yesterday.
Among the parts retracted are that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak introduced Razak to Mongolian murder victim Altantuya Shaariibuu and that Najib had a sexual relationship with her.
On Thursday, Balasubramaniam claimed in a statutory declaration that the police had omitted pertinent information allegedly linking Najib with the Altantuya murder case.
Balasubramaniam on Thursday declared he had informed police what Razak had purportedly told him prior to Altantuya's murder.
He revealed yesterday the content of the statutory declaration at a press conference organised by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim together with PKR office bearers, MPs and lawyers at the party's headquarters.
He said Razak had told him that he was introduced to Altantuya by Najib at a diamond exhibition in Singapore and that Najib had told him that he (Najib) and Altantuya had had a sexual relationship and that “she was susceptible to anal intercourse”.
Balasubramaniam said Razak had also told him that Najib had asked him (Razak) “to look after” Altantuya, who was also known as “Aminah”, because he did not want her to harass him now that he was the Deputy Prime Minister.
He claimed Razak had told him that Altantuya had wanted money as she felt entitled to a US$500,000 (RM1.65mil) commission from a submarine deal that she had assisted the Malaysian Government secure in Paris; and that Najib, Razak and Altantuya all had dinner together in Paris.

tunku : waiting for the new declaration, then only i will comment.but till then let's laugh at it first.

Anwar's Lies

It's 'my mistake' to hire Saiful

Anwar Ibrahim today conceded that he had made a mistake in hiring Saiful Bukhari Azlan who has accused him of sodomising him.
“It is a mistake in hindsight,” he lamented.
According to him, Saiful was not employed as a full-time worker in his staff and as such there was no background checks done on him.
Anwar explained that Saiful was first taken in as a party volunteer and was asked to be a driver.
“After weeks, he came slowly into the establishment. Until the day he left, he was still not a permanent member of the staff ... We just pay him a part-time allowance,” said Anwar in a 30-minute interview at the PKR headquarters this morning.
He also said that the sodomy allegations have delayed his plans to contest a by-election which will see him making a comeback to Parliament after an absence of 10 years.
Anwar has set his sights on the Kuala Kangsar parliament seat, which is currently being held by Umno Wanita chief Rafidah Aziz.
The Election Court will decided tomorrow on whether to call a fresh election after Rafidah’s victory was challenged by a disgruntled voter, who claimed that the former minister had failed to sign all her nominations forms.
Even if the court upheld Rafidah’s victory, Anwar said the party has shortlisted three other seats which he could be contesting in the coming weeks.
“The by-election is going to be deferred slightly because we don’t know (about what’s going happened to the sodomy allegations). You have this stalemate whereby I can announce it today and they will arrest me tomorrow.”
But he insisted that his plan for the opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition to take power by Sept 16 is still very much “on track”. However, that could change if he was arrested.
“As it stands, it is very much on track but it is also subject to what happens in the next few days.”

tunku : you are not charged yet and most important thing is you are not found guilty YET so you can still contest for by election.if uthayakumar can contest why can't you? i guess your biggest mistake was thinking saiful will be your slave forever.how can a temporary staff go for overseas trip? you said there are enough support for you to form new government, so why worry if you are arrested or not? better form it NOW so that you can't blame the government ,the judiciary. the police will carry on with their investigations. believe me if he is found not guilty he will say the police, the judiciary did excellent job but if he is found guilty he will blame all including the tea lady at the court.

Anwar given a bullet-proof vest
De facto PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim today revealed that the threat on his life was serious enough for someone to give him a bullet-proof vest.
While he denied that he wore the bullet-proof vest at the 10,000-strong rally in Kampung Baru on April 14, Anwar said his wife, PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ticked him off for not taking such threats more seriously.
"Azizah is, of course, very annoyed with me. She said, ‘Please take precautions.’ I promise her, yes, I will do it probably at public functions when necessary," he told Malaysiakini in a 30-minute interview this morning at the PKR headquarters.
He however pointed out that even a bullet-proof car failed to stop the assassination of Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto.
"I go through every single detail, it is the nature of the job, for example, ... in minute detail even the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, you’ll be surprised - not as a journalist - just to see how they could do it. Look, she was in a bullet-proof vest, bullet-proof car. So..."
Anwar said that given his experience a decade ago when he was savagely beaten after he was arrested, there is legitimate fear that it could happen again.
"I went through it, I know what it is. If you were to arrested today, for example, I’m not saying that nothing would happen, I wouldn’t know. To me, it almost impossible, it’s incredulous to imagine that..."
When asked what he thought of the assurance of his personal safety given by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, this was what Anwar had to say.
"Well, the prime minister is a nice man, he says many things but I don’t know who will take him seriously. Look he says, "Well, we will give them protection." I know Saiful has been given police protection 24 hours a day. Did you see any of them here? Not that I want police around me."

tunku : ten years ago , he accused the government for giving him poison at the prison, injected him with HIV virus ( i wish they did ) but till today this moron is still alive and healthy. now he 's trying to fools the public again with this death threat.he said he don't believe with musa hassan's force but want them to protect him.there is possibility that this guy hires someone to shoot him (not to kill)just to make people believe him.

Najib admits meeting sodomy complainant

In a new twist, Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today admitted that he met Saiful Bukhari Azlan a few days before the latter lodged a police report against Anwar Ibrahim for alleged sodomy.
Najib however denied that he had advised Saiful to lodge the police report against Anwar, the PKR de facto leader and opposition chief.
The admission by the deputy premier today was a shocker as previously he had acknowledged Saiful meeting his special officer three months ago to seek government scholarship.
At the time, he did not disclose about this personal meeting with Saiful.
"There are two elements. He (Saiful) came to the office to seek help for scholarship and he only met with my special officer.
"He (also) came to my house because he needed help because he was so traumatised, so that was it.
"I am saying it because there has never been a conspiracy, you can't link the two things together. He just came for help, that's all and he never met me when he came to my office," said the deputy premier.
Najib's admission that he had met Saiful days before he lodged the police report is likely to bolster Anwar's claims of a conspiracy.
‘He was in fear'
Najib volunteered the information on his meeting with Saiful when asked by reporters to react to Anwar's unrelenting attacks against him.
"I don't know, maybe he (Anwar) thinks I am the one behind the guy (Saiful). Actually there is no conspiracy, he came and saw me to complain that he had been sodomised by Anwar," said Najib.
Najib added he accepted the meeting with Saiful in his capacity as a government leader and the young man as a Malaysian citizen.
With his ‘revelation', Najib was pressed by reporters for more details on their meeting, including whether he believed the claims made by Saiful on the alleged sodomy.
In this, Najib said: "I was sceptical, I was not sure whether there was any basis or whether it was genuine or whatever it was. I was worried, so I said ‘look, it's up to you (to decide on the next course of action)." But he also added that Saiful "looks genuine". "I don't dare to say. He looks genuine as he was in fear, his hands were seram sejuk (cold) but I dare not draw a conclusion, I advised him that 'you decide for yourself'," said Najib. On whether he asked Saiful to lodge a police report, he said: "No, I said, 'it's up to you', and I was not sure whether he was going to file the police report."
Saiful dropped the bombshell on Saturday when he lodged the police report claiming that Anwar had sodomised him.
PKR later claimed that the police report was a fix-up as there was a photo showing Saiful visiting the deputy premier's office and met with the latter's senior officer.

tunku : the boy met najib is totally another question. with 2 meetings they can't make a big plot.anyway najib admitted and point noted. so let the police investigates but then anwar is barking that he don't trust the police before they starts their investigation. i had a feeling that anwar did what he is accused for, otherwise he will act cool and let the police carry on their investigation.after all the world is watching (especially uncle sam)and he claimed that majority of the public did not believe with the accusation, why worry?

DPM says statutory declaration is a ‘red herring’

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak read out a statement at a press conference in Parliament, saying that the statutory declaration by P. Balasubramaniam was a "red herring" by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to divert public attention from the sodomy allegation against him.

Following is a transcript of his statement:

"Firstly, I want to repeat that whatever that had been said is considered sub-judice because the case is still under trial in court. However, I wish to repeat strongly that I did not know or have met the Mongolian woman mentioned in the statutory declaration.”
“The statutory declaration, which I consider as a horrible lie, a mere fabrication with malicious intention and slanderous element which aimed to smear my image. I am very sure that this is a very desperate attempt to divert attention from the sodomy allegation that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is facing now.”
“What is important now is not the matter raised as a diversion, (or) red herring, but what people want to know is whether the sodomy case happened or not. I hope the relevant authorities will investigate and make an announcement as soon as possible.”
“On the statutory declaration, because the declaration contradicts the testimonies in court and also with the police report, I leave it to the authorities to investigate fully.
The parties responsible (for the statutory declaration) should be prepared to accept any consequences if the authorities uncover any legal wrongdoing."

Abdullah Cannot Understand Why Mohd Saiful Is Being Linked To His In-Law's Family

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Thursday he could not understand why suddenly the name of Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, a former aide of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who had alleged he had been sodomised by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor, was being linked to his in-law's family.
"Why is this being brought up... there is no reason for this. Whether it is true or not is also not known yet," he said.
The Prime Minister said this when asked to comment a report on a blog which claimed that the stepfather of Mohd Saiful, 23, had family ties with his daughter-in-law.
Earlier, Abdullah had chaired the inaugural meeting of the implementing authority of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) at his office in Parliament here.

Anwar Trying To Divert Public Attention From Sodomy Case, Says Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (Bernama) -- The claim by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that four Barisan Nasional members of parliament would join the opposition was made to divert public attention from the sodomy allegation against him, Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said the four persons had since denied Anwar's claim.
"The main issue now is regarding him (Anwar). He is named in the sodomy report and the police are investigating. That is the issue."
However, Muhyiddin added that the sodomy allegation against Anwar should not be made a political issue and invite the involvement of the United States.
"Why should we mix our personal matters with political issues and involve the superpowers? Malaysian affairs are our internal affairs."
Muhyiddin said the alleged government conspiracy and interference by other countries should not be taken lightly as it involved the country's image and dignity.

tunku : anwar is trying to shoot every corner hopes that it will hit a target, though he's not sure himself.all anwar is trying to do right now is to make people forget about his sodomy case and attack government.that is the way the devil's operates, divertion.muhyiddin is right , the main issue here is anwar's sodomy accusation, nothing else. suddenly after the accusation anwar is bringing all sorts of stories out, from where?
