Selangor MB crisis: We will continue to support Khalid, says PAS exco

Selangor PAS executive councilor Sallehen Mukhyi says he will continue to serve under Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
The Sabak assemblyman told The Star on Monday that there was no reason for PAS exco members to resign, adding that while PKR and DAP have their own stand on the matter, PAS is not bound to follow.
“We will not resign, why should we do that?
“The appointment of the mentri besar is done under the state constitution and we will continue to support him. This is our principle,” he said.
Khalid, who was sacked from PKR last Saturday, had earlier said he could still govern the state with at least a quorum of four exco members under the state constitution.
He said he would remain in his position and exco members who declined to work with him could resign.
The Port Klang assemblyman said provisions in the state constitution allowed him to seek the consent of Selangor ruler Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah to make changes to the existing exco line-up.
In a related development, PAS central working committee member Khalid Samad said the there should be no move to force the four PAS exco members  to resign from their posts.
“There should not be any move to force the four PAS exco members to resign merely to push for the dissolution of the Selangor state legislative assembly.
“This will only jeapordise the state administration and affect the day to day service to the rakyat here,” said the Shah Alam MP.
However, he said this would be the status for the present moment as PAS’ central committee will meet to decide on the Selangor MB issue this coming Sunday.
He hoped that both PKR and DAP state executive councillors would take heed of PAS’ example by not resigning their posts.
The three other PAS exco members, Iskandar Ab Samad (Chempaka), Dr Halimah Ali (Selat Klang) and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (Sijangkang) could not be reached for comment.
