Selangor MB crisis: Two PAS reps given 24 hours to retract Wan Azizah support

Selangor PAS has given its two “renegade” assemblymen 24 hours to retract their stand in supporting PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Selangor mentri besar.

Secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the party viewed seriously the breach of party discipline by the duo.

“The two acted independently without heeding the party’s directive,” said Khairuddin in a statement.

Hulu Klang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib representative Hasnul Baharuddin earlier joined 27 other Selangor lawmakers to state their support for Dr Wan Azizah.

The press conference with PKR and DAP representatives was held as a show of majority support for Dr Wan Azizah in the Selangor State Assembly.

Hasnul and Saari had said they would support Dr Wan Azizah to replace current embattled Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

Khairuddin asked why Saari and Hasnul had "rushed" into making the decisions.

"Isn't PAS meeting on Aug 17 (to decide on the Dr Wan Azizah issue)," he said.

"We will heed all decision made by the central PAS leadership on Aug 17. So be patient," he said.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali was quoted in Harakah Daily that he had contacted state commissioner, Iskandar Abdul Samad, and asked for a full report on the actions of the two assembyment.

The PAS leadership had earlier told the party's four executive councillors to continue working with Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
