Selangor MB crisis: On Twitter, PKR's Azmin Ali gets backing for post

Netizens on Twitter are pressuring PKR to choose Gombak MP Azmin Azmin as a backup candidate for mentri besar after PAS rejected PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s nomination as a replacement following the sacking of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from the party.

“If DSWA (Datuk Seri Wan Azizah) is unacceptable to all PR factions why not YB. Azmin Ali as MB so PAS don't have to shift its stand on women as Head of government,” said @Mazri73 on PAS’ priority that the mentri besar be male to enable the state leader to carry out religious duties to the fullest.

“Hope yb azmin could be d bigger man, provide leadership & push for reconciliation among party leaders. Time to show ure president material,” added @megreat.

“Mungkin Azmin la yang kena naik afterall. (Perhaps Azmin will be the one who wil have tol rise after all),” added @saimayub.

“Azmin is better la..others xlayak..lg..azmin is senior in selangor (the others are not worthy. Additionally, Azmin is a senior in Selangor),” argued @HannZiq.

“Saya jarang setuju dengan PAS (I rarely agree with PAS), but we must break the grip of PKR in Selangor. azmin still the best choice,” added @ainulaizat.

“Ni bukan soal pro Azmin, cuma yang layak dan berkualiti harus diangkat, kesetiaan dia hingga kini ada yang pertikai ? (It is not an issue of being pro Azmin, just those who are eligible and should be promoted. Until today has his loyalty ever been questioned?),” argued @izzuddingadaffi.

“It wouldn't be so weird if it was Azmin. Especially with Wan Azizah's admission that she is just a puppet,” said @zarakahan.

“Come on Azmin. Ko jangan nak malukan orang Selangor la. Ko nak orang luar jadi MB ke (Come on Azmin. Don’t embarrass the people of Selangor. Do you want outsiders to be MB?),” asked @erk888.

On Sunday, unofficial results showed that Azmin had cinched the PKR deputy president’s post after months of party elections.

Official results are expected to be announced on Aug 22 during the party’s three-day congress at Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam.

On Saturday, the embattled Khalid was sacked from PKR for defying orders to relinquish his mentri besar seat for Dr Wan Azizah.
