Selangor MB crisis: A defiant Khalid says Wan Azizah must prove support with no-confidence vote

Despite PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's announcement that she has the majority support in the Selangor legislative assembly, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim remains defiant.

In a series of tweets following Dr Wan Azizah's announcement that she has the support of 30 out of the 56 lawmakers in the state assembly, thus giving her the majority support to become mentri besar, the embattled Khalid said she must still prove this via a motion of no-confidence.

"Until this process is done, the administration of the Selangor government will go on as usual," said Khalid.
He said that he took note of Dr Wan Azizah's announcement.

"I am aware of Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah's claim that she has the majority support of the assemblymen.
"However, Wan Azizah will still have to translate the support through a motion of no-confidence at the Selangor state assembly," Khalid said.

Meanwhile, Khalid's aides informed the media that the Mentri Besar would not be giving a press conference on Thursday.

Khalid was sacked from PKR last Saturday for refusing to step down and make way for Dr Wan Azizah to take over as mentri besar.

Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has also directed that Khalid should remain as mentri besar and gave his consent for the sacking of PKR and DAP exco members.

Khalid is now running the state with four PAS exco members who have been directed to give the mentri besar their support.
The PAS leadership will decide on Aug 17 whether or not to continue backing Khalid.
