Khalid accepts decision but says ouster is illegal

Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim says he accepts PKR’s decision to sack him from the party but maintains that the move is flawed and illegal.

The entire episode, said the embattled Selangor Mentri Besar, was mired in a conspiracy as he was not given the opportunity to defend himself.

“I will now seek an audience with the Sultan of Selangor to inform His Royal Highness of this latest development, and listen to any views His Royal Highness may have to share,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Khalid said PKR was confused over the allegations levelled against him as the party had failed to indicate which of its provisions his alleged misdeeds had contravened.

“In spite of my request for postponement to Aug 15 and for more details of the disciplinary process, no reply has been forthcoming.

“The disciplinary board proceeded on today without hearing me. I have not been afforded a proper and fair legal process.“There has been a conspiracy of the highest order,” he said.

He said in the meantime he would continue to discharge his duties as Mentri Besar.

“Until such a time that this issue is resolved in accordance with proper procedures, laws and conventions particularly in the Selangor Constitution, I will continue to perform my duty to the people as the Mentri Besar to the best of my ability,” said Khalid.

Khalid’s political secretary Azman Abidin hoped his boss would appeal, adding that his sacking has far reaching implications as he is now an independant assemblyman for Port Klang and Bandar Tun Razak MP.

Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Abdul Shukur Idrus said the current turn of events were very disturbing as it indicated that Pakatan Rakyat was not interested in taking care of the state or the people.
