Umno Youth Tasked With Seeking Ideas From Young Generation: Can they?

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- The Umno Youth movement will hold meetings with the young generation to seek ideas on tackling current issues and find out their 'wish list' with regard to government policies.
Umno Youth head Khairy Jamaluddin said the movement had been asked to do so by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak so that the ideas and aspirations of the young generation could be conveyed to and subsequently acted upon by the government.
"The era of the government knowing everything is over. Government does not know anything, so the Umno Youth is tasked with seeking from the young generation who are not necessarily members of Umno, the Youth wing or Barisan Nasional (BN), what are their requests and wishes from the government," he told reporters after leading a courtesy call by the Umno Youth Exco on the Prime Minister, here Wednesday.
Khairy said the movement had already performed this task at the various levels previously but the implementation had not been systematic as desired by the Prime Minister.
He said a meeting would be held later for the setting up of a committee to monitor the formation of a special laboratory to carry out the task and the first report was expected to be presented within three months.
In addition, he said the movement would also launch the 1Malaysia Youth Expedition next month to explain the concept of 1Malaysia to the young generation throughout the country.
Asked whether the delegation discussed speculations on developments in Umno Youth, Khairy said the issue did not arise, adding that it was a normal meeting to discuss the direction of the movement in assisting the people, especially the young generation and not a meeting to resolve the movement's internal crisis.
"In terms of politics, Datuk Seri Najib was satisfied with the direction of the Umno Youth currently and he had stressed that solidarity was crucial not only in Umno Youth but also the Umno party as a whole and the BN," he said.

tunku : we know that government can't be knowing everything all the time but what kj said that government does not know anything is an insult to Najib's administration.how can a government knows nothing.if they don't know anything then they don't deserve to be up there. umno youth can go all out but when it is headed by kj, the chances are slim.Najib can be satisfied with the direction of umno youth but the people are not as long as kj as it's head.the only way for umno youth to get back people's confidence and support is to make kj resign from his post.

Please, there is no need for the PM to appoint a Special Committee to look into this matter. If you read the letters written to main-stream-media alone and take action on them BN will be returned with an increased majority in GE13. An if they read and act on 50% of the various comments in the internet BN will win all the seats in parliament in GE13. Ramalx

Tunku, I agree with you. KJ will not bring UMNO youth anywhere. He simply cannot get enough support from UMNO youth itself.

The best option for KJ is to step down and give way to his deputy.

The debacle of PR 12 was entirely due to his involvement in the selection of candidates.
