JOHOR BAHARU, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Johor Baharu Umno Youth division has opposed a Singapore proposal to expand the Johor Causeway as it will not solve the pollution problem in the Johor Straits.Its chief Khalid Mohamad said, the proposal to expand the 85 year-old Johor Causeway by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong should be rejected as it was not based on mutual benefit.
"The expansion of the Johor Causeway will only prolong the water pollution problem in the Johor Straits. It will not address the problem."
Khalid said the proposal to expand the Johor Causeway was made in the interest of one party and would not solve the many problems faced by Johor and Malaysia.
He added Johor Baharu city folk wanted to see free flow of water from the East and West of the Johor Straits, unlike today, where it is obstructed by the Johor Causeway.
tunku : this is another stupid solution from singapore.first with the 3rd bridge proposal and now to expand the causeway.we don't want to expand it , we want to demolish it,you get that singapore? we want to see free flow of water from east to west of the straits.we want a bridge to be build to replace the causeway.we want the government not to accept such stupid idea from singapore.

Well...BUT Lee Kuan Yew would say in his heart...If you Malaysia continue with your crooked bridge my Singapore Port would suffer tremendously and..... your Port of Tanjung Pelepas would become World's No.1 port replacing Singapore in this region.
Wake up Malaysian leaders we have everything to gain ENVIRONMENTALLY and ECONOMICALLY with our crooked bridge project. I think Tun had envisioned the next 85 years with the project.
PM Najib should listen to the voice of the Johor People and its DYMM Sultan who thoroughly support UMNO and BN.
The previous Prime Minister listened to his kitchen cabinet and kow tow to Singapore and refused to listen to UMNO Johor and he lasted only one term not only that BN also lost Kedah,Penang,Perak, Selangor and FT KL.
The 3rd Bridge is not a Singapore proposal. It was proposed by Najib.
Furthermore, you simply want to solve the pollution problem by flushing it to the sea ??? How irresponsible is that ?
You need to solve the Pollution problem at source and stop your factories over there from discharging toxic into the Straits.
