PM Says People In PAS-led Kelantan Ready For Change
KOTA BAHARU, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Monday he was convinced the people of Kelantan were ready for a change of government to enjoy vigorous development after having been administered for 18 years by PAS.
He said the Barisan Nasional (BN) had the capability to win the people's support because of its proven credibility in bringing development and raising the socio-economic standard of the people in the other states.
"The people of Kelantan are seeking a change," he told reporters after chairing a closed-door meeting of the Kelantan BN Coordinating Committee and the State Umno Political Bureau, here.
Also present were the wife of the prime minister, Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah, and Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Annuar Musa.
Abdullah reiterated the importance for a state government administered by the BN to launch development programmes drawn up by the federal government.
He said it would be easy for the federal government to implement changes in Kelantan with the leadership in the state aligned to it.
The prime minister said the federal government adopted the fair and just approach in ensuring that all the people enjoyed the fruits of the nation's success.
As such, he advised the people of Kelantan to accept the change to be brought by the BN and not politicise the issue and reject the development programmes drawn up by the federal government.
"The people of Kelantan should respect the capability of the BN in developing the states administered by the coalition.
"Therefore, I hope the voters will elect the BN to see how the coalition administers Kelantan. We have shown our capability in Terengganu," he said.
Abdullah said Terengganu had now become the centre of Islamic development, described as quality development which has brought benefits for all the people.
He said that to ensure a BN victory in Kelantan, the Kelantan BN had to work harder to win over the trust of the people for them to elect the BN in the 12th general election.
Asked whether Kelantan BN would have a special manifesto for the elections, the prime minister said he had yet to decide whether to use a separate manifesto for Kelantan or the same one for the whole country.
On the Kelantan BN election candidates, he said the list of candidates had been submitted to him and that it was pointless for anyone to lobby for seats.
Asked whether he had got the inspiration to call the general election, Abdullah said: "I have got the inspiration, but it has to be determined when to hold the elections."

BN !!? ( turn green .. bffftt )
I would rather vote for parti cap Payung or batang pisang ( like the Johorean usually do ).
Oh yeah, the cash are already flowing in, no need to wait for pilihanraya for that, hopefully not in a form of a wasteful RM 250 million of Taman Tamadun Islam when they can use the cash to subsidize more on petrol or give the people free education ( like they promised ) or at least patch the potholes on Malaysian roads.
RM 250 million ... fuuh
one could build a perfect highway from Gua Musang to Kota Bharu with that amount.
Like Tun M said, we need a healthy amount of opposition in the parliament to make sure such idiocy stay on check.
In other words, we need less tunkuaisha.
Yey !
