Khairy Leads BN New Faces In Coming Polls
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- Umno deputy head Khairy Jamaluddin's much-anticipated debut in the general election was confirmed today, when he was named for the Rembau parliamentary seat in his hometown.
The 32-year-old son-in-law of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, was among 12 new faces named in Negeri Sembilan by Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan for the March 8 polls.
With nomination day looming on Sunday, the opposition seems to be taking a cue from the last polls and are playing it safe in picking their turf in fighting the Barisan National.
Going by the candidates announced with just a day left, it is becoming increasing remote of big names clashing, no repeat of the clash-of-the-titans as in previous polls before 2004.
The prime minister announced today that he would defend Kepala Batas, which has kept its faith in him since 1978, in unveiling Umno candidates for Penang in his capacity as the state Umno liaison chief.
tunku : son in-law leads bn new faces and father in-law leads the old faces, what a happy family.
