PM: I work hard to fulfil duties
PENANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Malaysians were aware that he works hard to fulfil his responsibilities for them.
"Some of you can say that I'm not good, you can say whatever. "But don't say that I don't work."
"I work very hard. I really mean it and you know it,'' he said to thundering applause from hundreds guests who attended the Chinese New Year open house at the Penang Chinese Town Hall here.
Abdullah said as a Muslim, he had an obligation to fulfil his responsibility.
"I have a very heavy responsibility and I have to carry it out,'' he said.
He also urged Malaysians to make full use of the opportunities available to do well in life and to serve the people.
"It is God's will that I become the Prime Minister of Malaysia and I am very conscious that I have to serve the people although I personally do not benefit even one sen because of this,'' he said.
He said in fulfilling his responsibility, he has to be fair to all Malaysians, irrespective of their ethnic backgrounds.
"However, each of us has to strive towards the creation of a Malaysian community that is happy, prosperous, united, harmonious and respected.
"As Malaysians, no matter where we are and even though we are just a minority group, attending a function, we should feel comfortable and happy when attending a function.
"We should feel at home and that we are in the company of friends and fellow Malaysians,'' he said.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon in his speech said a lot of renewals and changes were being initiated under Abdullah's leadership especially in areas such as economy, security and government delivery system.
"These renewals and changes will however, take some time and require the support and co-operation of all Malaysians,'' he said.
working hard day and night for them
tunku : pak lah says he work very very hard, pity him till he falls sleep at functions.if pak lah work very hard, the rakyat won't feel the burden today. i agree with pak lah when he says that he personally do not benefit even one sen but for sure it benefited his son and son in-law a lot.i have not seen a pm telling the whole world that he is working very hard, they only say so if they knows that they are useless.

What do you mean he is working very hard? The first picture of him you you put in this blog up shows that he is doing anything but working! PM is in fact sleeping! The camera does not lie. If you want to propagate PM as doing what he says (i.e working hard), you certainly use the wrong picture Tunku.
mr tak dak nama,
u don't understand what i'm trying to say.
I like Your style , Tunku.!
Indeed he is working very hard.
cos he travel overseas so often on OFFICIAL DUTIES, as per
http://blog.limkitsiang.com/2007/06/28/pm-slash-frequent-overseas-trips-unless-he-can-do-justice-as-internal-security-and-finance-minister/
so if he travelled at night , say 90 trips , 30 trips 25 hours, 30 trips 15 hours, 30 trips 6 hours, then total hours on air
30X25+ 30X15 + 30X6= 750+450+180=1380 hours in 4 years. so assume you only work 8 hours, AAB had overwork 1380/8= 172 working daysin 4 years. Thank you for working hard for the nation- ON air.
But he said, I bring ministers, MB and my family for meeting, so i am productive! OK.
for averaging 2.3 trips per month, each last say 3 days, and plus 2 days of JETLeg upon return, How can not he got tired after return. Private Jet compression is worst then Jumbo Jet. So sure he need a nap!
not forgeting the day or hour lost when he flown from west back to the east. He got to work axtra +5..8 hours.
i got more to say...aother tak dak nama..
What should be the NEW Election Menifesto.:
