SUBANG JAYA: The bodies of fallen commandos Insp Zulkifli Mamat, 29,
and Kpl Sabaruddin Daud, 46, arrived at 12.30pm Saturday at the Royal
Malaysian Air Force base in Subang.
They were accorded full police honours at the Air Force Control base here.
The atmosphere was sombre, with high-ranking police officials and the families of Zulkifli and Sabaruddin present.
Speaking to reporters at the scene, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak
said the Government would give the Sulu rebels two choices: surrender
or face the repercussions at the hands of security forces.
Najib said he had spoken to Philippines president Benigno Aquino on Friday night regarding the matter.
He said the window for negotiations was closed, given the hostile stand taken by the rebels.
"The
Sulu rebels have to surrender or they will face the action of our
security forces," he told a press conference after paying his last
respects to the remains of the fallen commandos at Subang Airbase
Saturday.
The wives and families of the fallen police commandos are awaiting
the arrival of the bodies at the Royal Malaysian Air Force base here.
Insp
Zulkifli Mamat's wife Noraziah Noor, who is in a wheelchair, looked
solemn surrounded by family members while Kpl Sabaruddin Daud's wife
Noranisa Abu Bakar was speechless as policemen and media members
surrounded the Air Force Control base here.
It is a sombre
atmosphere as throngs of high-ranking policemen and personnel as well as
dignitaries await the bodies' arrival from Tawau.
Among the dignitaries present are Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
