Umno To Discuss Ways Of Recapturing Kedah

ALOR SETAR, July 20 (Bernama) -- Kedah Umno Liaison Committee will hold a convention on July 31 to find ways to recapture the state from the opposition.
Its deputy chairman, Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said eight workshops, which would be conducted during the convention, would identify Umno's strategies in its foray to wrest Kedah in the next general election.
He said about 1,000 divisional and branch leaders would attend the convention and some of them would be divided into eight workshops of between 100 and 120 participants each.
Kedah Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal will deliver a keynote address at the convention which will he held at Universiti Utara Malaysia, Ahmad Bashah said in a statement Tuesday.
He said resolutions passed at the convention would form the blueprint on Umno's onslaughts against the opposition at the state, division and branch levels.
"Various issues will be deliberated at the workshops and participants are encouraged to air their views and proposals to fine-tune Umno's strategies in the run up to the 13th general election," he added.

tunku : i wonder what took them so long to discuss this.it should have been done 2 years back.anyway there's a say, better late than never.it is very difficult task for BN/Umno to recapture Kedah based on current scenario on the ground.this is because there is still old faces in Kedah's BN/Umno which is very unpopular and the public hates them.BN/Umno in Kedah need new blood.the current team is too slow to move around except for few like Ahmad Bashah and co. others almost invisible. they need to "attack" the current government more actively and offer solutions to public as the current government is as good as in hibernation mode. BN/Umno in Kedah should take this opportunity to get back the people's confidence in them.
