Just be cautious of ‘sweep’ M’sians threat: Jelaing

KUCHING: Members of the public should not be overly worried about a threat of harassment by a self-proclaimed vigilante group in Indonesia stating that they would ‘sweep’ Malaysians come Oct 8.Deputy Home Minister Jelaing Mersat said even though he personally could not tell if the threat was real, Malaysians must be cautious just in case the group had managed to influence some of their fellow nationals in the country to act irrationally.
“Do not be worried about it (news) but at the same time be cautious,” he told The Borneo Post when contacted in Saratok yesterday.
He said he would inform his ministry about this latest development on security, assuring that should there be a potential threat to security a unit in the ministry would know about it.
Jelaing, also Saratok MP, advised members of the public not to be fearful of negative elements creeping into the country because the relevant authorities would eventually deal with them.
According to a feature in The Sunday Star yesterday, the Indonesian group - Bendera (Benteng Demokrasi Rakyat or People’s Democratic Defence) led by 38-year-old Adian Napituplu - claimed that they were planning to ‘sweep’ Malaysians “because Malaysians sweep Indonesians in Malaysia”.
By ‘sweeping’, Adian said he meant the process of asking Malaysians in Indonesia to go home.
On Sept 8, the group members armed with sharpened bamboo sticks held a roadblock in Jakarta Indonesia, saying they were looking for Malaysians. The action only lasted 30 minutes because the Indonesian police stopped them.
Asajaya assemblyman Karim Abdul Rahman Hamzah, who is chief political secretary to the Chief Minister described the group’s ‘Sapu Malaysia’ call as stupid.
He said any vigilante group with the intention to create disharmony and war between nations, races or religions must be stopped at its ‘bud’.
“The crazy idea must be stopped and leaders of both nations as well as the media must play their part to avoid any escalation of such issue,” he said.
Malaysia and Indonesia, he said, are two friendly nations with same cultural, religious and racial background.
Therefore both countries must not allow this friendly relationship be tainted by some extremists who wanted to create dissents between the two nations.
He pointed out that no one would gain from any quarrel between these two great nations.
An Indonesian Embassy official in Kuala Lumpur had described Bendera’s plan to ‘invade’ Malaysia through villages first before proceeding into the Malaysian capital as “too ludicrous to respond to officially”.
According to The Sunday Star, Adian had dismissed the embassy’s response, saying that it would be Bendera that is going to ‘invade’ Malaysia and not their government.
They are sending about 300 Indonesians tarined in black magic which makes them invincible to sharp objects and bullets to invade Malaysian towns in Borneo starting with Kuching. After Sarawak and Sabah they will be heading to Kuala Lumpur.

tunku : just look at these "stupid" mentality people(People Democratic Defence {BENDERA} of Indonesia).first of all i wonder why their government is not taking action against them? they had made clear their intention of invading Malaysia, by right their government had taken the stupid leader by the name of Adian Napitulu in custody because jeopardizing the good relationship of two countries.he can even be held under terrorism act. Don't just make statement that Malaysian should not take seriously what this group is doing.put these barbarians behind the bars.when indonesian in trouble(which they are always in) Malaysian had not failed to give their hands to help.Just look at the recent earthquake and many many of the earlier ones.enough is enough.
