Sime Darby: IJN's fee structure will remain

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Bhd has assured that the fee structure and services provided by the National Heart Institute (IJN) will remain the same for poor and middle-class patients as well as civil servants if it succeeded in taking over the facility.
Its president and group chief executive Datuk Seri Ahmad Zubir Murshid said on Thursday that maintaining IJN’s social obligations was not only one of the conditions from the Government but also a demand by his own board of directors.
“When I first presented our proposal to our board a few months ago, they demanded that any take over by us must not affect the rakyat (people).
“The board, consisting of many powerful people, insisted that our proposal would ensure that we would continue with the social services that IJN provide at present especially to the poor and middle-class as well as to the civil servants,” Zubir told a press conference here.
He also announced that his company only received a reply on Thursday from the Economic Planning Unit to its proposal.
“This is why we did not make any announcement earlier.
"In the letter, the Government agreed in priciple to our proposal but with three conditions," he said.
They three conditions are: - Value of tender must be acceptable; - Sime Darby must come out with a business plan for IJN; and - Commitment to continue the social obligations of IJN as provided at present by the Health Ministry.
Zubir said the value of the tender would only be determined sometime next month after due dilligence had been carried out on IJN, which was a private company owned 99% by the Finance Ministry.
Asked about the rationale of Sime Darby wanting to take over IJN, Zubir said his company was seeking to buy up 51% of the institute because it was a centre of excellence for cardiovascular medicine.
He explained that Sime Darby had drawn up a long-term plan to expand its medical services by either acquiring a centre of excellence like IJN or to start new ones.
“In this case, it will be a win-win situation because IJN is a very reputable centre in the region and we have the resources to expand its capability.
“We will also be able to share our resources and personnel. For example, if there is a need for the use of an operating theatre, IJN could use the facility at Subang Jaya Medical Centre.
same could be done in terms of staffing,” he said, adding that this would be done without increasing fees.
Zubir said Sime Darby would also help IJN to expand its facilities, including the construction of the new wing.
“When our facilities expand, we will also increase the number of social obligation patients who can be treated. The people will not lose out by this proposal,” he added.
Zubir said Sime Darby would also establish a second IJN at its Labu Medical City development in Negri Sembilan and this would again benefit everyone.

tunku : IJN is very important to the people especially those who can't afford private hospital.this is the one thing that the people hope that government could provide service to them. it's not appropriate to privatise IJN. as for me a BIG NO. as major share holder, sime darby can do what ever they like as it is theirs.the government will not able to stop them if they want to increase the fees in the future.sime darby should make its Labu Medical City as second IJN and proof to people of it sincerity first.let the main IJN be under the government. it will be a big mistake for the government to privatise it.

Did Najib give his blessing? Not a wise move. Perhaps the Govt needs the cash. If the Minister of Finance thinks it necessary to dispose of IJN it should be to Kazanah Holdings.

Another move by Dollah's adviser, Musa Black.

I want to bring people attention, previously take over of some medical centre by KPJ, many Doctors were paid off millions with their shares holding.

Poor Unionised Nurses and assistants whom had worked for those centre (private) were nullisfied with the Gratitute pensions available to them under previous management.

Corporate takeover and privatisations were good for certain people, but for many whom were part of the team to build up the reputation of the medical centre, were always the neglected lots and the most unfair treated.

Imagine someone whom were supposed to retire in few years and not given gratitute fee of one hundred K ringgit entitlement.

So, how can PM, DPM understands such problems, which was unfair to many loyal workers? Only some top guns benefit from these scheme, direct or indirectly.

When such gossips goes round and no lawas and rules to protect the dedicated staffs, how would people trusts any politicians anymore?

Tindakan ini bukanlah satu tindakan terbaik. Adalah lebih baik rancangan ini dibatalkan untuk kepentingan rakyat.
