Rais: Sacking Of Zaid Should Serve As Lesson For Other Umno Leaders

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- The sacking of former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim from Umno should serve as a lesson for other leaders in the party, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said Wednesday.
He said party members and leaders should understand the party's struggle and not resort to actions deemed to be extreme.
"If the council did not act, it would be seen to be toothless because the demeanour (of Zaid) was actionable," he said when asked to comment on Zaid's sacking from Umno.
Zaid was sacked from Umno yesterday for several actions which went contrary to the party principles, including attending opposition meetings and having talks with opposition leaders.
In KOTA KINABALU, Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said Zaid's actions of late did not reflect the qualities of an Umno leader genuinely championing the party's cause.
"I feel there is no place in Umno for anyone who plays the double-crossing game. Our struggle must be clear even if we have differing views on any issue," he said.

tunku : zaid has helped the opposition candidates in kota bharu during last election by 'donating'.as an umno leader during the election he was on holiday in australia, he joins the function held by the opposition so it is best for him to be sacked from umno.he need not worry as a garbage truck named pkr will come to his rescue.

Tindakan yang diambil ke atas Zaid memang satu tindakan yang tepat. Takkan nak dibiarkan saja? Perkara yang dilakukan Zaid itu seperti berpaling tadah.

Well despite action taken by our leadership towards Zaid it is perceived as a step of backward direction. It is not what a democratic society is all about.

UMNO tends to lose more than gaining more with the sacking. Zaid is a good example of our future politician. But our leadership decided to think with their HEART instead of their brain.

Well despite the verdict given by the voters in PRU12 our leaders thinking remain status quo.

I just wonder whether our leaders realize where are we heading.

Tunku,

Zaid was not in Australia on the election times. I saw him on Friday night 7th march dining with his family in restaurant 4 season in Lundang whilst the rest of Umno people were busy get ready for last minute preparation... We dont need people like this in Umno.. Melayu yang lupa diri..He is a disgrace to malay.
