Rosmah Clarifies Ring Issue

The Prime Minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said lies that she owned an expensive ring were the work of irresponsible quarters in trying the make the people hate the nation's leaders.

Rosmah reiterated that the ring was brought into the country for three days for viewing by her future in-laws who were in Malaysia then.

"That (ring) is not mine. She (future in-law) knew the seller because she was a good customer and she was the one who wanted to view the ring which had to be sent to the address of Seri Perdana (the Prime Minister's official residence in Putrajaya).

"When the ring came in, they (the irresponsible quarters) showed the Customs forms, but when it went out no forms were shown.

"But we have got all the evidence, it was never ever had by us and was only meant for viewing and not for buying," she said when handing over a replica cheque for haemodialysis machines, to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian here Thursday.

Prior to this, Rosmah had been accused of owning a diamond encrusted ring that was said to cost millions of ringgit.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Rosmah's daughter Nooryana Najwa was engaged to Daniyar Nazarbayev, a Kazakhstan citizen, in 2011.
