Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak today announced that an additional 2,000 units of houses will be
built under the People's Housing Programme (PPR) for Kota Baharu
residents.
Najib said the 2,000 units were additional to the 1,000 units of PPR
houses in Mukim Bandar in the Kota Baharu parliamentary constituency
which he launched during his visit to Kelantan in March.
"These houses are important...how to live in a one-room house, many
children, I am puzzled on something like this (a big family living in a
one-room house. This (building of the PPR units) is something that has
to be done and it is a renewal we must make," he said.
The good news from Najib when he launched the 1Malaysia Tuition
programme at Maktab Sultan Ismail here received thunderous applause from
the thousands of Kota Baharu residents who turned up for the event.
The first phase involving the 1,000 units broke new records when it was
implemented within 53 days after it was promised by the Prime Minister
on Jan 20, which was solid proof to the people of Kelantan that the
Barisan Nasional (BN) government delivered on its pledges.
PPR Mukim Bandar units have a floor space of 700 square metres with
three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each unit costs RM160,000 but will
only be sold at RM35,000 a unit following the federal government
subsidising it by RM125,000.
