The National Audit Department has
denied that Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang had said that Pakatan
Rakyat-led states fared better than other states in revenue collection.
"The department is upset that the auditor-general's name and photograph
are being used in campaign posters and a posting on Facebook to create
this perception among the public.
"This claim is inaccurate and misleading if the Auditor General's
Report 2011 is anything to go by," the department said in a statement
Thursday.
The Auditor-General's Report 2011 stated that Kedah collected the
lowest revenue at RM20.52 million followed by Negeri Sembilan (RM24.52
million), Perak (RM27.11 million), Kelantan (RM47.84 million) and
Selangor (RM62.50 million).
On the other hand, Pahang's revenue increased to RM75.33 million, Sabah
(RM167.36 million), Penang (RM192.19 million), Terengganu (RM419.70
million) and Sarawak (RM1.02 billion).
"Adopting the principles of integrity and justice, the auditor-general,
of course, gives credit to all states that showed good performance in
financial management and revenue collection," it added.
