New administration to be more open: Muhyiddin

TAIPING: The new administration promised to be an open government where formalities will be set aside in favour of speed and efficiency.
International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak had already set the pace by going down to meet the people on the street on Saturday.
“From now on, that is going to be our approach. It is going to be direct. There will no longer be pomp and pageantry before we can meet the people.
“Similarly, if people have problems, they can come see us so that their grouses can be attended to immediately,” he said in his speech at Simpang Chinese Primary School near here Sunday.
Najib had on Saturday spent over two hours visiting Petaling Street, also known as Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown, the predominantly Malay area of Vista Angkasa near Kampung Kerinchi, and Brickfields with its Indian-majority community.
Muhyiddin, who is Umno deputy president, also said that the Government did not play favourite when it came to solving the people’s problems.
Claims by the Opposition that the Government did not care for the welfare of the Chinese, and favoured only the Malays were totally untrue, he said.
Speaking to reporters later, Muhyiddin denied claims that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would try to dictate the choice of new Cabinet members expected to be announced early next week.
The former premier, he said, was a statesman and as such his advice would always be welcome, as was advice from others as befitting the open government envisioned by Najib.
However, he said, it was Najib who would be making the final decision and no one else.
He also confirmed that Dr Mahathir would help campaign for Barisan Nasional in the last day of campaigning on Monday for the three by-elections on Tuesday.
He would be in Bukit Gantang in the morning before proceeding to Bukit Selambau in the evening.

tunku : i hope so that this will be the approach of the new administration and not just a one time off thing. if they continue with this i don't think so why BN can't come back stronger than before. if they put people's interest first, then they will be on the right track. as for the tri by election, the latest info is that bukit gantang, pas is leading in supports, bukit selambau pkr is leading and batang ai bn is leading.
