Tyranny Cannot Contribute to Progress, Growth

Autocrats Divorced From Prophetic Teachings
YAZD 23 March 2007, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Friday that many oppressions and injustices at the global level are perpetrated by despots divorced from the path of the holy prophets and worship of God.
Speaking in the final leg of his 26th provincial tour in Yazd province, he noted that oppressors have brought nothing for the people but pain, agony and more suffering, ISNA reported.
“They (oppressive powers) have talked a lot about freedom and democracy, but have in fact only plundered the people’s wealth and who now hate them.“
Tyrants and despotic regimes are infuriated by the progress and success of other nations, the president recalled. He said that although prophets preached and strongly recommended to their followers to celebrate the progress of other humans, oppressors all to often envy the advancement of other people, particularly the freedom-seeking nations.
“Repressive regimes seek to prevent nations from making progress and enjoying independence and freedom,“ Ahmadinejad told a public rally in the central province.
One of the biggest lies of history is that the West, particularly the US, claims that Iran’s nuclear program has deviated from the declared peaceful path, he added.
Commenting on his government’s decision to invest in Yazd province, he said new funds would help pave the way for creating jobs and improve the quality of life in that part of the country.
“We have added 1.5 trillion rials to provincial budget to help establish new manufacturing and other units,“ he said and pledged to further contribute to the economic and social development of the province that has gradually emerged as a major industrial hub.

But his credibility crumbled when he said "there are no gays in Iran".

So I guess we just listen to the parts we want to hear and those that is congruous with our ideals, instead of watching and reading the entire transcript of what happened at the interview in New York?

The one that proved academic as he comically renounces a lot of the social and humanitarian issues happening in Iran today.
