A slap on dap's face

Bahau Assemblyman Lim Fui Ming Joins MCA
SEREMBAN, March 15 (Bernama) -- After being without a party for slightly more than two months, the State Assemblyman for Bahau Lim Fui Ming officially joined the MCA today.
The announcement on Lim's admission into the second largest component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) was made by the MCA president, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting, who is also the Negeri Sembilan MCA Liaison chairman, at an afternoon tea with the Negeri Sembilan MCA leader, here.
Also present were Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan who is also the State BN chairman, Negeri Sembilan MCA Liaison deputy chairman Datuk Dr Yeow Chai Thiam, and all State Assemblymen from the MCA.
In his brief speech, Lim said he was thankful to the state BN leaders and the MCA for taking him into the party.
"I have been an independent Assemblyman for more than two months after I announced my withdrawal from the DAP on Jan 9 which, coincidentally, was also my birthday," he said.
Speaking at a press conference later, Lim said he had sought the opinion of his constituents during the past two months and the majority of them wanted him to join the MCA.
"I dare not say that I will get 100 percent support after this, and no one can get such solid support," he said.
He promised to give his best service to the people in the Bahau state constituency on the MCA ticket.
The DAP lost a seat in the Negeri Sembilan State Assembly when Lim left the opposition party.
Lim's withdrawal from the DAP also leaves the opposition with only one representative in the Negeri Sembilan State Assembly, namely Loke Siew Fook (DAP-Lobak), who is also the Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman.
Lim, who was also the Negeri Sembilan DAP deputy chairman before his withdrawal, said he left the party as he was disappointed with the DAP leadership for not appreciating his services all this while.
In the 2004 general election, Lim defeated the BN candidate, Datuk See Ah Kow with a majority of 642 votes.
