Government Asked To Curb Bloggers

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) -- The government has to find ways to curtail bloggers from abusing the Internet to spread lies and defame the leaders, said Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN-Bera).
"We notice that a lot of bloggers have been sowing the seeds of discord among the races, religions... I believe there must be a limit," he said in a debate on the royal address in the Dewan Rakyat here today.
He felt that there ought to be a law governing bloggers like those imposed on the print and broadcast media.
"The people believe more in the bloggers than the newspapers... I am aware that a newspaper was censured by the Internal Security Ministry for publishing a sensational story but the bloggers could continue churning out malicious stories," he said.

tunku : sabri use your brain and ask why people believe more in bloggers than newspaper, because mainstream newspaper full of craps.even our former prime minister said he only reads utusan and the star, that is also full of craps but better than nst, berita harian.tv3 and rtm news need not to explain, it's all what the government want to say and not what the public want to hear.

Tunku, I think YB Dtk Ismail Sabri is confuse between bloggers and commentors. I'Ve yet to come across a blogger posting irresponsible and racial inclined article. The culprits are the commentors . I feel that it is high time for the bloggers to scrutinise any comments to his posting to avoid the web becoming battlefield for uncalled for racist remarks which could offend other races. Sometime unnecessary remark on ones religion is unbearable to read!

In order for bloggers to be respected, I feel that some form of control by the bloggers themselves to sieve any unworthy comments must ber strictly enforced.Tunku, you are among the few who took precautionary step before comments are posted!

As citizen of this country , bloggers have their role to play to foster better racial relationship. We should at all cost prevent any attempt by any body to undermine the race relation we are enjoying now. We should NOT give the governmentany excuses to take puinitive action against the bloggers. As much as I disagree with the suggestion by Dtk Ismail Sabri, the bloggers however, have to be cautious not to cross the line!!
