PAS moves HQ to city centre

KUALA LUMPUR (March 1, 2007): Since becoming PAS deputy president two years back, Nasharudin Mat Isa had wanted to change the image of the party through a "rebranding and repackaging".
The latest engagement of this agenda is the relocation of the party headquarters from the Malay-populated area in Taman Melewar, Gombak, to Jalan Raja Laut in the heart of the federal capital.
"It has long been my dream to bring the party's administration office out of Taman Melewar. And now, with the grace of Allah, we are able to have our own seven-storey building in the city centre," Nasharudin told theSun in an interview at the new headquarters, which started full operations today.
"We want to show that PAS is for all. That is why we chose this building which is situated along one of the busiest streets in the city. We want the party to be accessible to all."
Nasharudin admitted to falling in love at first sight with the building, the former RHB Bank premises, when it was identified six months back, because "it is very strategically located".
He declined to reveal how much they paid for the building.
Once the 50ft x 10ft signage bearing the party's name and logo and its flag are placed on top of the building, they would be very much visible to Star LRT commuters on their way to and from the Sultan Ismail and PWTC stations.
Interestingly, the view of its political rival Umno's building, the Menara Dato' Onn, is clearly seen from party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's room on the 4th floor.
The 4th floor is the heart of the party's administration, as Abdul Hadi, Nasharuddin, treasurer Dr Hatta Ramli, information chief Ahmad Awang and election director Datuk Mustapha Ali also have their rooms there.
The office is surrounded by the red light area of Lorong Haji Taib but Nasharudin has this to say: "When doing dakwah (missionary work), we should not only target certain people.
"It may be too ambitious to say that we would cater for the kind of people in this area but we believe we can contribute to improve the surrounding environment."
He added they had met with the city deputy police chief and intended to meet with City Hall later for this purpose. A public complaints office has also been set up on the 1st floor.

tunku : so pas is thinking by shifting to city centre with 7 storey building they will have more votes and to impress public.the best part is the president and co are located at 4th floor, dont tell me that you people are impress with budak tingkat 4 too.till you changed your whole image and direction, you will never succeed.by the way nasha, why cant reveal from where the money came to purchase this building, from derma org kampung??

pas need full reform within the party in order to get people to vote for them and the only way is the change of the present leadership to a more up to date leaders not "jaguh kampung"

Nasha, don't waste money. concentrate int the rural areas is good enough. In Cities you can't bluff people, they won't accept you. Setakat nak pengaruh orang dgn modal spiritual tu tnpa dapt memenuhi kehendak jasmani orang bandar, you better forget it!
