Teratai independent candidate and former Selangor DAP Socialist Youth
chief Jenice Lee will not withdraw from contesting in the 13th general
election.
In a statement Wednesday, she said she appreciated the
offer from DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang to plead on her behalf if she
withdrew her candidacy, but doing so would amount to betraying her
supporters.
"I hope he can give me 30 minutes to meet for one
last time, and if he still insists I withdraw, I hope to know the
reasons for his insistence," she said.
Lee said Lim did not understand the cause of events in Teratai.
Earlier in the day, Lim said he was prepared to plead on behalf Lee if she withdrew from contesting in the May 5 polls.
