Seventy-five PKR members here, including two branch chiefs, have left the party and pledged alliance to Barisan Nasional.
Headed by Hamdan Abdullah, the Sungai Tengi PKR chairman, and its Wanita wing chairman Hazni Juliana, they handed in their Umno application forms to Barisan's Hulu Bernam candidate Datuk Rosni Sohar on Tuesday.
Hamdan,
53, said the PKR-led state government had promised a scheme whereby
children of Felda settlers in higher learning institutions would get
RM1,000 as a one-off payment.
"As a branch chairman, I had applied four times for this and it was rejected.
"My
daughter, who is currently studying in Universiti Islam Antarabangsa
(UIA) Gombak, is almost finishing her fifth year but I still have not
received anything despite approaching the PKR leadership many times.
"I had to bear the cost for her and it is a huge burden as we are Felda settlers and cannot afford it.
"If I am not able to get this, what about the others here.
"Only those in favour with the PKR leaders are able to get things like this done," Hamdan claimed.
Hazni,
a single mother, said she was disappointed as she had applied for a
small business loan from the state government but was unable to get it
despite many applications.
Sungai Tengi PKR branch secretary Dzulkiflee Kamaruddin also pledged his alliance to Barisan.
