Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin said the Barisan Nasional (BN) did not waver despite the Pakatan
Rakyat hurling slander and defamation against the coalition in the final
run-up to the 13th General Election this Sunday.
He said these were acts of desperation to thwart the people's intention in seeing BN continuing to rule the country.
"As May 5 approaches, various accusations and lies are being hurled at the BN but we continue to persevere.
"They are trying to blur the people's vision with claims that they are going to topple the BN," said Muhyiddin.
He was addressing more than 20,000 people of various groups at the
1Malaysia People's Gathering in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Beris Pancor
here Wednesday.
Muhyiddin said situational reports from the visits he held nationwide
showed the people's desire and aspiration to see BN continuing to lead
the country, besides recapturing Selangor, Kedah and Kelantan.
Meanwhile, the education minister and BN candidate for the Pagoh
parliamentary seat, gave his assurance that Bachok would be developed as
a valley of knowledge in Kelantan.
He said, a fully residential science school would be built in Bachok if
the BN was given the mandate in the area, as well as overall control of
Kelantan.
"I am making a statement, not a promise. Insya-Allah (God willing), if
we win and have the deciding power, we will seek Bachok Umno chief Datuk
Dr Awang Adek (Hussin) to ensure the science school becomes a reality."
Muhyiddin also urged the people to ponder over the failure of PAS in
fighting for Islamic teachings, especially in defending the word,
'Allah', and the implementation of hudud laws.
"If we continue to let PAS rule Kelantan for another five years, I do not know what will become of Kelantan.
"Nik Aziz (Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat) cannot
continue to be menteri besar as he has no capability and suffered much
failures...thus, when May 5 comes, we will change the PAS government in
Kelantan," he said.
Muhyiddin later spent time to meet and mingle with the people in the district.
