We must agree with Chua Soi Lek on needs to review the 30% Bumi Equity.

Chua Reiterates Need To Review 30 Per Cent Bumiputera Equity

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- MCA chief Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek Sunday reiterated the need for the government to review the 30 per cent Bumiputera equity target in line with the Economic Transformation Plan (ETP).
He said this was also to allow the economic cake of the country to expand further and to achieve its target of high income growth of six per cent annually.
He said the 12 major economic sectors under the National Key Economic Areas (NKEAS) including oil and gas and telecommunication, should also be liberalised.
Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of MCA's 57th annual general meeting at Wisma MCA here, Dr Chua these were crucial elements to quantum leap the country into a high-income developed nation.
"Every Malaysian is the shareholder of the country. So when there is a good economic growth, everybody would get a good slice of the economic cake.
"But if we are unable to liberalise and achieve good economic growth, then the economic cake and the slice that we have would be very limited," he said.
However, Dr Chua stressed that this did not mean "robbing Ali to pay Ah Chong or vice versa".
When asked whether the party was ready to disagree with UMNO on certain national issues, Dr Chua said MCA, as a mono-ethnic political party in a multiracial country, there should always be the need to accept the political varieties of all parties, adding that national interests should be above parties' interests.

tunku : i agree with chua soi lek, lets review the 30 per cent bumiputera equity policy, it is not applicable anymore.the percentage should match the population percentage.that means bumi equity should be at least 60% to be fair.the 30% is not fair to the bumis.chua soi lek, be grateful and look around.

Sebaliknya atas nama bangsa-Malaysia.

DS CSL sbaliknya terus menuntut tanpa rasa lelah. Kenyataannya kaum Cina lbh berjaya dlm sektor ekonomi sejak dulu. Yg masih ketinggalan ialah kaum Melayu juga India.

Dont be too greedy, we are lucky if the chainese agree to allow us to have 40% of the economic share.

By the way, the Malay need to have a new attitude towards doing business with non-Malay. The Malays must ensure their monies goes to Malay/muslim enterprenaurs and not chainese/ non-muslim. Insyallah by having this attitude, we can achieve our target faster than expected.

Please dont depends too much on the government for Malay economic growth, they are too busy to please the non-Malay and afraid to help the Malays nowdays.

Hello bumiputra,

Ko orang tak adil lah..

Ko orang tak nampak ke? Dengan pencapaian 18% (dari 30%) quota sekarang ramai cina yang merempat...

ptuii..

Haha...hebatnya orang Melayu sendiri.

Untuk mencapai 18%, berapa billion duit sudah dihabiskan.

Jika nak capai 60%, bolehla. Lelong Malaysia kepada sesiapa yang mampu kasih duit percuma - tak usah bayar balik la.

Segolongan Melayu disini memang fikir macam ayam aje.

I think the chinese are beginning to realise that if the playing field is TRULY level, they might lose out.

So before that happens, they want to maintain status quo at all costs.

NEP has been very successful in spite of the loopholes in implementation.

And yes the Bumi Equity should reflect the population percentages, maybe even 65%.

Tunku,

The biggest obstacle for Tionghua cummunity to achieve National Unity is MCA. Think about it, be it economically or in educational system.

Again. Think about it.

Even 60% will not be enough. As it happened in the 70s and 80s most of the IPOs awarded to Bumiputra ended in the hands of other the day the company was listed and share prices doubled. My friend got shares when MAS was listed. The next day the price doubled and he sold outfor a profit. The same will happen in we increse the target to 60%.

The way out is for everyone to purchse the shares after the the shares are list and at the market price. Then you have to wait for the listed company to make profits and for the share price to go up before you can make a profit.

You see in life man only appreciates his wealth if it is earned the hard way. If he gets it without work he will spaend it on a fancy car or holiday or build a second home in Puncak Taman Kota Bunga Raya.

And do not get me wrong. This has nothing to do with race. This kind of trend can also be detected among the Chinese and Indians who had been fortunate to get wealth from their parents or through marriage.
