Khalid: I was not pressured to pull out of race

PORT KLANG: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has denied that he was pressured by PKR's top leadership to pull out of the race for the party deputy president post.
He also refuted claims that his decision to withdraw from the second highest post in the party was due to lack of support from Selangor PKR.
“Selangor PKR members are in full support for me to challenge the post but after careful consideration and discussion with special committee members - my political secretary Faekah Husin and key Reformasi activist leaders - I am convinced I can achieve my goals best by not contesting any top party posts in these elections,” he said after presenting a RM3mil grant to 57 Chinese schools in Selangor, at SJK(C) Tshing Nian here.
Khalid added that in view of an early general election, he felt that his vital duty is to demonstrate a dynamic, principled and people-centric governance.
“I am confident in the abilities of all the candidates I have seen nominated for top party positions, and am optimistic about their potential to rejuvenate the spirit of Reformasi for the party while, we, in the Selangor state, remain focused in our efforts to realise a genuinely rakyat-centric government,” he said.

tunku : the truth is khalid chicken out.he knew that he won't win the race as azmin's supports is obviously more than him.he can't even beat zaid ibrahim for the race. if he contest, he will definately lose and it will be a great shame for him keeping in mind he's the selangor menteri besar. anwar too had asked him to withdraw and might promised khalid that if they retain selangor in the next GE, he will remain as mb.
