A voter was not able to exercise his
electoral rights in today's election after he collapsed while queuing up
to cast his ballot at Kampung Simee Tamil School polling centre here.
Perak Police election spokesman Supt Maszely Minhad said V. Selvaraju, 56, fainted and died on the spot at about 12.35pm.
"His family members said Selvaraju was a diabetic and had high blood pressure," he told Bernama.
Selvaraju's body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here for a post-mortem.
It is understood that the unemployed Selvaraju, from Buntong, suffered
breathing difficulty while waiting to check his polling stream.
