The DAP has thrown its weight behind Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim (pix) as Selangor mentri besar for a second term.
In a statement on Wednesday, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng
said that Khalid should continue as MB for "leading Pakatan Rakyat to a
resounding victory at the recent general elections by winning a
two-thirds majority in the state".
Pakatan won 44 out of 56 state seats in Selangor, up from 36 seats in the 2008 polls.
"Even though DAP won 15 seats together with PAS' 15 and PKR's 14,
Khalid should be recognised for his integrity and stewardship of
Selangor.
"This had enabled Pakatan to beat a determined effort by Barisan Nasional led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak himself to win back Selangor.
"Selangor DAP is also in full support of Khalid as the Selangor MB,"
said Lim, who was also sworn in as Penang chief minister on Tuesday.
Khalid has said that he would wait for a decision from the Pakatan
leadership on whether he would helm the state for a second term.
