BN Loss In Kelantan Due To Outstation Voters, Ridiculous 'Fatwa' - Mustapa

Outstation voters and the obsession with ridiculous 'fatwa' were among major factors for the loss of Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election (GE13).

Kelantan BN chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the issue of religion bandied by the opposition, especially ridiculous 'fatwa', had big impact on fanatical voters.

"BN has many outstation voters but they have more than us. We have done the best in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and the rest of the country and like to thank our voters," he told reporters after attending a special briefing between the Prime Minister and BN members of parliament (MPs) at Putra World Trade Centre Tuesday.

Mustapa said it was important for BN to conduct a post-mortem for the loss in Kelantan to ensure that the party continues to be relevant in the state.

PAS, which ruled Kelantan since 1990, was returned to power with two-thirds majority after winning 32 of 45 state seats in GE13.

Barisan Nasional (BN) won 12 state seats while Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) won one state seat.
