Barisan Nasional Has Gone Through Rejuvenation - Muhyiddin

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Barisan Nasional (BN) is not 'old' as the party which has ruled the country for 56 years has gone through rejuvenation via continuous change in the leadership.

"Who says we (BN) are old? Najib (Prime Minister) is only 59 years-old.

Anwar Ibrahim, Hadi Awang, Karpal Singh and Kit Siang are much older. We are into our sixth prime minister, meaning there is continuous rejuvenation in BN and component parties.

"BN is always young, spirited and visionary," he said this in front of about 10,000 people at 'Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat' programme at Arena Square, here Thursday.

About the general election, he urged the people to be wise when voting on May 5 by choosing the party that is capable of forming a stable government.

"The party has proven its ability in making the country more competitive and successful in areas such as economic, educational and social. Our country is also respected worldwide and has become a model and safe country. "If there is intrusion by foreign terrorists such as in Lahad Datu, we will defend all out to maintain the safety of the people and country."

Muhyiddin said the BN government also help to reduce the people's burden from rising price of goods following the global economic fallout.

"Malaysia is the only country which control the price of fuel, flour and sugar. In other countries, the price of goods are based on supply and demand.

"If Pakatan Rakyat says that BN stands for 'barang naik' it is a blatant lie," he added.

At the function, he also announced allocation of RM13.1 million to repair five wooden schools in Dungun district.

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said and BN candidates Datuk Rosli Mat Hassan (Dungun), Zakaria Ali (Sura), Rosli Daud (Bukit Besi), Datuk Zaabar Mohamed Adib (Rantau Abang) and Datuk Matulidi Jusoh (Paka).
