200 Malacca MCA members quit

Some 200 state MCA members holding appointed state or federal posts have resigned with immediate effect, said the party's state chairman Datuk Gan Tian Loo.

"This is to honour the resolution made during the party's annual general meeting in 2011 that should the party perform poorly in the 13th General Election, all its members would resign from their appointed posts.
"The recently-elected state assemblymen for Bemban, Machap and Klebang will also not hold positions as state excos in the new state government," he told a press conference at the state MCA office at Jalan Hang Tuah here yesterday.
However, Gan added that MCA members would continue to serve the people and support Barisan Nasional.
