Radio Televisyen Malaysia is ready to televise live the debate on the
Taman Manggis land between Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local
Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Penang Chief Minister
Lim Guan Eng.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said RTM would help facilitate the debate through the slot of its programme called "Democracy".
"We are ready to televise live the debate, and it is up to them to
take up the offer. The debate will be without audience to ensure that
the programme runs smoothly," he told Bernama on Friday.
Abdul Rahman, who is also Barisan Nasional strategic communications
director, had welcomed Lim's preparedness to participate in a public
debate with him.
In a Twitter posting, Abdul Rahman said: "I welcome the public debate
on the Taman Manggis (land). My officer will contact your side to iron
out the details.
"The debate will allow the people of Penang to know the facts and truth behind the Taman Manggis scandal."
Yesterday, Lim said he was prepared to debate with the urban
well-being, housing and local government minister on the matter, and
even wanted the event televised live.
The Barisan claims that the DAP-led Penang government sold the Taman
Manggis land when it had been earmarked for affordable housing.
