Bersih Advised Not To Mix Merdeka Celebrations With Politics

SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar advised the organisers of the Bersih assembly planned at Dataran Merdeka on Aug 30 to not mix Merdeka Day celebrations with politics.
"Merdeka is a matter related to the people. They'll be celebrating the country's 55th independence day, so don't make it a political issue.
"Whether you want to gather or make a speech, there is a law for everything and we must follow the laws of the country," he said at a press conference after launching Ops Selamat, in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, at Dataran Shah Alam, here.
Ismail was asked to comment on the planned gathering which is expected to be held at Dataran Merdeka on Aug 30, to coincide with this year's Merdeka Day celebrations.
"If everyone follows the law the country will remain peaceful," added.

tunku : i have no words for these idiots. don't they have the brain to to differentiate between politics and national day? this thing has to stop before there is no more peace in the country. just think one day if you come to power, others will do it back to you.show some good values about your self.
