DAP – PAS DRAMA IS JUST A PLOY TO STOP FADING INFLUENCE

The verbal spat between DAP and PAS over Hudud laws is just a drama to drum up their existence the changing political landscape in the country given the changing minds of voters, particularly the new young voters termed as Generation Y.
Undeniably, BN’s economic transformation programmes have yield certain level of success and the opposition parties are feeling the ‘pinch’ with their influence and ‘charms’ fading fast.
Their ‘attractions’ are fast becoming antics for the voters and the BN’s success since Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took over the country’s leadership have got them reeling and searching for more new attractions to stop the young voters from running to Najib, vis-à-vis BN.
While PKR, the only party in the opposition that is multi-racial, slogging hard to make amends and repair the heavy damages it is facing in Selangor, DAP and PAS – the first Chinese-based and second is Malay-Islamic based – have to stir up things to make their existence known.
The two parties need to project their cause to remind voters they are still on course with their respective objective although both parties ‘sleeping together on the same pillow.’
Right now their supporters are suspicious of each other – fear their party leaders would derail their objectives in the excitement to rush to Putrajaya – to lead the new government.
Because going by the ‘love-hate relationship’ between leaders of the two parties whose ideologies are miles apart, trouble would be inevitable as each of them try to dominate one another.
DAP would surely want PAS to be sidelined so that the Islamic laws and Hudud would not take root in the new administration and PAS, like the leaders have mentioned openly that they would implement Islamic administration…vis-à-vis Islamic laws and Hudud.
So right now, members and supporters of both parties are looking at each other with suspicious eyes and minds while the leaders of both parties try hard ‘playing dramas’ so that their supporters would not run away, thus slipping away their chance of sitting at Putrajaya.
Young voters or generation Y understand the game as they are no longer naïve about politics as they know which party is genuine and which is not.
So far, they know Najib is genuine and working hard for their future, like a father charting the future of his children.
Najib not only does that, he is also known and acknowledge as well as recognized for being caring to the less fortunate like Felda settlers and those below average income group.
With such feelings and perception among the young voters, the Generation Y, opposition parties are very worried as they keep on digging whatever scandal they can find to stop the flow of support to Najib and BN.

Khalid Confirmed That PR's Manifesto Is Just A Game

It seems that Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, Selangor's Chief Minister has come to a dead end when pushed by the question regarding the failure of his government to fulfil the water supply for on free domestic use for first 20 cubic meter each month for the people of Selangor.
His response to the media regarding this issue in a press conference after chairing the state's exco meeting two days ago, he said, 'manisfesto is not promise', that has really caused rage among rakyat of Selangor. It is not too much to for me to say that the statement seems 'suicidal' for both him and his party.
Perhaps Khalid is unaware that a party runs on a few basic elements: 1. Service record, 2. Ideology, 3. Manifesto.
Considering that PR still do not have any service record, and they do not have a concrete ideology, we can then say that PR's win in Selangor was merely from the manifesto which they announced.
People of Selangor came to the extend of rejecting BN back in 2008 GE even though the party has great achievements, just so that they could enjoy 20m worth of free water supply, pre-school aid and a few other things which was stated in PR's manifesto back then.
So, it is a bit sad for rakyat when after 4 years of being in the office, the Cm suddenly admitted that his government should not be responsible to fulfill all of the promises which were stated in the manifesto, because they are not promises.
In other words, the manifesto was just made for fun - it was simply drafted and announced just to gain votes.
If 'manifesto are not promises', then what is it?
According to an online dictionary, manifesto is "the announcement of intention, suggestion and motives or opinion of an individual, group, political party or the government".
Holding on to this definition, rakyat of Selangor had chosen PR with the hope that they would implement all of their intention, suggestion and motives or opinion which they announced.
It is true that not all of the intentions or suggestions can be implemented because sometimes there are a few setbacks. But that should not be an excuse in failing to provide free water supply to people of Selangor. Especially the fact that they had four years to do it. Even if there are setbacks, they should have been able to rectify the issue.
But,the issue here is not about the troubles that are fact by Selangor government to provide free water supply to the state, but this is about the CM of Selangor confirming that his government has never promised to the suggestion, thus, it is not necessary, and it will never be implemented!
With that, rakyat should no longer trust any manifesto made or presented by PR.

PAS Scenario Analysis Overpowers Parliament?

Newspaper Sinchew Daily dated August 28, 2012 in the opinion column showed an article written by the newspaper's Deputy Editor, Tay Ting Hien regarding the scenario where PAS overpowers the parliament and introduced Islamic Criminal Law.
"In one fine day on September 2014, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang will propose the Islamic Criminal Law in Parliamant. The opposition coalition will begin to break, PAS's MPs will all support the motion while the rest of DAP members will reject it. Both Muslims and Non-Muslim PKR MPs will fight against one another...
"Barisan Nasional (BN) as the opposition then will would go left-wing, UMNO's disciplinary board will say, as UMNO Muslim, we definately support the Islamic Criminal Law. Objections made by MCA, Gerakan and MIC will not bring any effect which led them going out of BN...
"During the vote in Dewan Rakyat, PAS and UMNO would gain both two thirds of majority and it would then be implemented. At that time, Abdul Hadi would thank all MPs who supported his proposal and he would say the decision came through democracy.
"Malaysia has managed to fulfil its objective to become an Islamic nation, the next step would be UMNO and PAS announcing that they will form a coalition government..."
I am not a fortune teller for the 2014 politics but the scenario above is not something that is simply made up from hearing rumors. From the knowledge of political science and management science, there is this term known as 'Political Scenario'.
Collect all of the current scenarios, put them all together and see the probable target. List down the positive and negative then compare the differences.
Scenarios such as the ones above are probable simulations that might happen.
As for the political scenario for Abdul Hadi, he had explained it clearly that if PR becomes the government, PAS through democracy would implement Islamic Criminal Law.
Even PAS's stand is very clear upon this goal, the fact that they would get to it legally. Moreoverm PAS did get to clear the motion on Islamic Criminal Law in Kelantan's Dewan Undangan Negeri in 1993 with UMNO members supporting them.
Under the trust and responsibility for religion, the gap of understanding between both parties were only separated by a thin line.
At the time, the law clashed with the Federal Law and that was why it cannot be passed.
If it is changed to a different situation, if they are to be the central government and proposed the same motion again, and backed by UMNO, defense of the federal Constitution might be able to be broken.
For this country, Islamic Criminal Law does not involve the legal and judiciary system, this could also change the formation of Malaysia and it could lead to a change on our nation's policy and belief.
When the law is passed, this means Malaysia would be separated from the outside world and its legal system, hence forming a pure Islamic nation.
Chinese society can no longer act as if they do not know anything and they cannot afford to think that everything would get better.
As for the structure in the opposition coalition, their goal would definitely to become the government but when they do manage to get what they want, they might still unable to see eye to eye when it comes to separation of powers.
Would coalition members be able to block PAS's fight? Everyone would have to pray that the coalition would be a strong pact.

Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan ke 55

Ambang Merdeka: Will There Be Riot Tonight?

Raktyat would definitely be going out with family and friends to celebrate the eve of our 55th National Independence.
Meanwhile, with only a few hours left until midnight, a few of us cannot help but to ask what would happen tonight.
This is because as we are all aware of, our focus tonight would not just be on the celebration, there is also this political program which will be organized by NGOs backed by the opposition.
The hosting of the event is related to individuals who have been running BERSIH, an organization which had triggered street riots around Kuala Lumpur on July 9, 2011 and April 28, 2012.
Previously, they rallied on the name of NGO BERSIH, but things are different this time around, they will not be using NGO platform openly but they are still the very same people/.
Looking at the background and dark past of those who were involved in this 'Janji Bersih Assembly', many are wondering on whether tonight would still end up like the chaos which happened during the previous Bersih 3.0.
If back then the same organizer failed to fulfil their promise to ensure that everything runs peacefully, how can they guarantee that the same thing would not happen tonight?
Just because they failed to control their supporters, added with provocation speeches made by their leader who intentionally ordered supporters to go against the security team, the effects were bad where many were injured, public properties worth millions had to be covered by the government etc.
We hope that these supporters in yellow can learn to keep their promise to obey the law and not to break orders made by authorities.
Not many Malaysians are willing to trust those who break their promises where they even fail to control their own supporters who created chaos which only harms the country.
With such bad records, it would be hard for us not to be worried if this auspicious night would turn to a political rally which could be a threat to the public.

VETERAN FUNDAMENTALISTS ARE SPEAKING OUT LOUD NOW IN PAS

There are still some sane people in PAS, the Islamic party that has never waver from its struggle to set up an Islamic state until recently when the party leadership found out that throwing away the objective brings them ‘luck’.
‘Luck’ in the sense that it has the support of members of supporters of DAP and PKR – one is Chinese-based and the other liberals in every outlook – whose supporters backed PAS in 2008 general election just to displace BN.
Now the party leadership is under pressure to expel its former deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa, who is politically sane as he continues to follow the path the party was set up for.
The call to expel Nasharuddin came from not only the liberals in the party which is split between the young liberals and veteran fundamentalists, the expulsion also came from outside the party.
They fear Nasharuddin’s close relationship with Umno leaders and the stand he takes on Hudud laws would undermine the good relationship the three parties enjoy under PR.
Nasharuddin is politically matured, wise and intelligent, possesses the leadership caliber, miles or kilometres away from present deputy president Mohamad Sabu or Mat Sabu.
His support in the party comprised the veteran fundamentalists and young intellectuals who stand hard on the party’s original struggle and objectives.
So when the party Ulama Council chief Datuk Harun Taib announced today that the council would stand behind Nasharuddin and action should not be taken against him, Harun was actually voicing out the voice of the fundamentalists.
And given the close relationship Harun has with party president Abdul Hadi Awang and secretary-general Mustapa Ali, the public can safely assume Harun was actually voicing out the minds of the party president.
In short, the party leadership still wants Nasharuddin to be in the party because his defeat to Mat Sabu in the last party election was due to the help of ‘external factors’ with the aid of the young liberals in the party.
And Harun’s statement on Nasharuddin has open up a new chapter in PAS – the fundamentalists are still pursuing the party’s objective despite the ‘drama and play’ in the news about Hadi softening on the matter and DAP’s Karpal Singh hardening DAP’s stand.
Reading Harun’s statement defending Nasharuddin, the public can now judge and safely assume that the corporation between PAS, DAP and PKR is actually very loose and can break anytime on any issues.
Going by that score, the Malays in PKR should also think wisely their positions as their Penang chief Mansor Othman has already become victim in a bigger plan charted by Lim Guan Eng and Anwar Ibrahim.

Frontpage Mat Sabu’s denial, PAS tells Sin Chew

PAS today demanded that Chinese-language daily Sin Chew Jit Poh publish the denial made by party deputy president Mohamad Sabu over his alleged statement on hudud on its front page.
Party treasurer Hatta Ramli (left) said that this is because the daily’s front page article quoting Mohamad- better known as Mat Sabu – today can confuse the rakyat.
“I hope Mat Sabu’s denial will be carried by the same newspaper on the same front page in the next edition,” he told reporters after the Pakatan Rakyat secretariat meeting.
However, he said an apology would not be necessary.
Sin Chew today quoted Mat Sabu as saying that PAS will push for a constitutional amendment in order to implement the hudud law, should Pakatan come into power.
Mat Sabu has since denied the statement, adding that the law can only be implemented with majority support of members of parliament.

tunku :it's confirmed now that pas will never push for hudud law. all these while they are just lying to the Muslims in Malaysia.they are so afraid of their godfather DAP. just look how they have to issue denial statement immediately. if they don't then their godfather will hammer them.

Where Is Kedah's Hudud Enactment?

Soon after winning the state of Kedah during the 2008's General Election, Bernama (March 9, 2008) reported the statement made by the President of PAS, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who plans to implement Hudud in Kedah. He said, it is under the power of Kedah government.
But, there were no follow-ups made among any PAS leaders regarding the implementation of Hudud law in Kedah after the report. Only after a term, hudud is now again become the matter of discussion in Kedah through the report on statement made by Kedah Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Azizan Razak, in Sinar Harian (July 5, 2012) saying that he leaves all the decision on hudud to PAS. This is regarding the Pemandu Committee by PAS, to monitor PAS's administration in Kedah.
If PAS Kedah wants to implement hudud, it is not difficult because there are only 3 non-Muslim excos for Kedah's administration, and only one of them is from DAP who strongly rejects hudud.
It is clear that PAS Kedah is just as same as PAS, they have never even planned to implement hudud. Instead, hudud is just their supporters' dream who are dumb enough for unable to understand the game that is being played by their leaders.
According to history, when PAS won Terengganu, the party did discuss about implementing hudud but it was rejected by the central government because there are dozens of enactments that clashes with Islamic teachings.
Few of them include laws that says it is permitted to commit sodomy to wives, non-Muslims can be appointed as Judges for hudud laws and other matters which involves qazaf which involves four witnesses for adultery where if a witness pulls off, so the other three witnesses can be charged.
This matter was raised by Dato’ Zulkifli Nordin in the Dewan Rakyat back in 2011.
What is more interesting is that when Dato’ Zulkifli mentioned about a rumor he haerd about mistakes and clashes in Islamic teachings within hudud which was presented by PAS was actually done on purpose. It was done to ensure that Tun Dr. Mahathir, who was then the current Prime Minister to reject it, hence creating a chance for PAS to accuse him and UMNO for rejecting hudud.
If that is true, it seems that PAS is not just cunning, they are also ill.
It is a good thing that PAS Kedah did not become as cunning as Terengganu by presenting a weak hudud enactment just to tarnish the government's image. Instead, PAS Kedah is not even interested to play along with PAS because they are more interested in adding entertainment centres around the city of Alor Setar.

RACIAL TROUBLE IN PENANG PKR

The spat between PKR and DAP in Penang has now worsen with the state PKR information chief Johari Kassim calling for suspension of those who attended the meeting which minutes were leaked, revealing the dissatisfaction of Mansor Othman towards Lim Guan Eng.
The minutes also revealed Guan Eng’s wish to have Chinese contesting PKR state seats instead of who PKR leadership feels can win the seats, giving the assumption that PKR plays second-fiddle to Guan Eng in Penang, not equal level.
While the Malays in PKR should start thinking what are they in for, Mansor himself, if he has any feeling about his own dignity and possessing a ‘Malay heart’, should take a bold step by just quitting the party and stand on his own.
This action will bring him back his self dignity and the bad perception by the Malays at large after he appeared at a press conference flanked by Guan Eng who sat there without saying a word to make sure that Mansor ‘eat the words that were written in the minutes.’
And Mansor, like the slave he is now, did just that to please Guan Eng but he has no idea that in reality Guan Eng does not trust him anymore after what had happened.
Putting Mansor to shame and ‘strip him of his dignity’ is Guan Eng’s aim in wanting to stay dominant in Penang and positioning DAP above the rest of the PR parties.
Succeeded in his game, now Penang PKR is facing problem from within Johari Kassim calling on the party leadership to suspend those who attended the meeting to find out who leaked the minutes.
Those who attended the meeting were state deputy chief and Batu Kawan division chief Law Choo Kiang; Bukit Bendera division deputy chief Felix Ooi; Bayan Baru deputy chairman Tan Seng Keat; 2004 candidate for Bayan Baru parliament seat Raymond Ong; Tanjung Youth chief Ng Chek Siang; Batu Uban branch chief Cheah Peng Guan and Mansor’s assistant John Ooi.
So just think where actually Johari is getting at – some Chinese in PKR are selling information to DAP leaders – or in short Johari is saying ‘do not trust the Chinese in PKR.’
Will the PKR leadership listen to Johari or help Mansor in bringing back his dignity after being ripped naked?
The answer is of course no because PKR’s chief Anwar Ibrahim is only interested in becoming the Prime Minister and he cannot achieve his aim without the support of DAP and PAS.
So he could not care less what happens to his people so long as he receives the support to be the Prime Minister.
So it is better now for the Malays in Penang PKR to rethink their position and their struggles for the word reformasi is already lost in the ‘forests of politics’ and what is left now is their conscience – a Malay or a sell out.

Court Never Mentioned M'sia As Secular Nation

Perhaps Karpal Singh is still yet to fully recover from his illness the other day that he is still making rants? Perhaps he is still hallucinating when he said that Tun Salleh Abbas used to state that Malaysia is a secular nation during the case of Che’ Omar Che Soh.
Tun Salleh Abbas as the National Chief of Justice only stated that there are laws in this country that seems secular and he had never said that Malaysia is a secular country.
Tun Dr. Mahathir, Malaysia's former Prime Minister had already stressed that this is an Islamic nation because it is ruled by a Muslim, Islam as the official religion but at the same never restrict the practice of other religions.
For that, the Federal Constitution commanded Rulers and rakyat as a whole to protect Islam through Article 37 which requires the main ruler of this country, Yang di-Pertuan Agong to swear upon the name of Allah to protect Islam at all time. Besides that, all rulers either Executive, legislative and judiciary also follows the sworn of Yang di-Pertuan Agong to ensure the purity of Islam.
Karpal's action in raising this matter, along with his clash against PAS only shows DAP's evil agenda who would do anything to fight Islam and to abolish Islam as the official religion for this country. His action can be seen as going against the Rukun Negara.
It seems that their clash is only confusing rakyat and it could possibly trigger conflict.
Rakyat need to understand that an Islamic nation do not have to necessarily practice hudud. Even Egypt, the country which has a lot of famous Scholars do not practice hudud.
The implementation of hudud in a country do not guarantee heaven to all Muslims. This is because heaven and hell only depend on the personal deeds between a Muslim and Allah. The government and its law do not influence the status of a Muslim with Allah.
Karpal clearly do not understand all of that but the same thing goes to those Muslims who as if live for the sake of hudud.
But, either Karpal understand the matter or not, it is very irresponsible of him to raise this matter and rejecting the principals of Rukun Negara and the Constitution which puts this country as an Islamic nation.
Perhaps Karpal prefers to make a fool of himself by not approving his knowledge on this country's constitution just so that he could fight against hudud and everything that has to do with Islam?
Whetever it is, PAS had made an oath to fight alongside Karpal and DAP whole Hudud would only remain as their official anthem to gain votes.

MANSOR SHOULD JUST QUIT PKR AS HE HAS BEEN PUBLICLY SHAMED BY GUAN ENG

It is no secret now that in Penang, PKR plays second fiddle to DAP, so is PAS and as such, both PKR and PAS cannot go shouting they are on equal footing with DAP or they are equal partners in the political equation in Penang.
The press conference last week conducted by Deputy Chief Minister 1 Mansor Othman, in the presence of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, reflected or visibly showed Mansor’s subservience to Guan Eng.
Mansor was put in a corner to answer or explain his own action and words written in a minutes of a official or unofficial meeting that rundown Guan Eng.
Guan Eng’s presence in the press conference was to show that he is ‘the boss’ and no one should run him down in anyway or else he would put the person in shame, just like what he did to Mansor.
Mansor has to call for a press conference, in the presence of Guan Eng and explain or deny those words he had spoken that rundown Guan Eng, an act a leader would not wish to do because this would shame him.
People would perceive he is scared of his boss and that he would not be trusted by his own men when he begins to deny or slithe around the words to protect himself from being taken action against.
He would be seen as cowed by Guan Eng, fear of Guan Eng’s wrath and the press conference itself had truly tear Mansor’s dignity to pieces as he wrangled his way to escape Guan Eng’s wrath.
Given the fact that Mansor had been shamed during the press conference and his dignity as a leader in PKR have been torn to pieces, it is better for him to just get out of the party and clears himself.
People with pride would not subject himself to be ‘morally abused’ so much so Mansor has lost respect from his own party members – behind Guan Eng he is hero but in front he is just a mouse – such is the perception of party members and the public towards him now.
Mansor has lost his credibility and dignity…he is just a pawn in the political game of big names in PKR and DAP – and by staying on he only makes himself a fool.
PKR de factor chief Anwar Ibrahim did not come to his aid and the way things go, Anwar would not stand by his side and may not even proposed his name as candidate in the coming general election.
Mansor’s action in the meeting which minutes was leaked revealed the biggest problem in Pakatan Rakyat – the division between racial lines – that see DAP dominance and low-class PKR alliance.

tunku : it is open secret that dap is the big boss in pakatan. no one dare to tell them off. pkr and pas indeed bow to them. dap can do whatever they like in pakatan but not pkr and pas.

PM advises people not to make a change they are uncertain about

PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Sunday advised Malaysians not to make a change which is uncertain of guaranteeing them prosperity and well-being.
Not all change would bring good, he said, adding that the people should institute change in something dependable rather than go for others who have no successful track record.
"We must hold on to something which we know well. God willing, it (the Barisan Nasional government) will bring about a better future," he said in his address at the Aidilfitri open house hosted by him and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, in Taman Tasik Sultan Abu Bakar, here.
Najib cautioned the people against being fooled by the sweet promises of the opposition political parties which he said had evidently failed in the four states they had been administrating after the general election of 2008.
He said that not all the changes promised would bring good for the people, but the Barisan-led government had brought about various changes that had benefited them since the era of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first prime minister.
"We cannot change a government solely because the time has come for us to make a change. We are not wanting to make a change but wanting something better.
"Change will not necessarily bring good. It can lead to something worse than what we are enjoying today," he said.
Najib said the Barisan government was continuing the struggle of past leaders in the effort to value add and bring about a better change to realise Vision 2020.
He said even developed countries, which were not administered well and failed to grow new wealth, would collapse and face a critical economic situation, such as the several European countries which had to put up with unemployment and economic recession.
"The truth is we cannot go on accepting aid after aid without figuring out how to create and generate wealth. Countries which do not generate economic wealth will face problems," he said.
The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and other state leaders were among the more than 70,000 people who attended the open house. - Bernama

tunku : we had 4 states as example.the people did the changes and we can see clearly the result of it. they had failed in those states. do we want them to rule the country? absolutely not.

Dr Chua: MCA willing to give up seats to BN parties

IPOH: MCA is willing to give up seats it has contested all along to its Barisan Nasional (BN) partners on the condition they are confident of winning them and get the nod of BN chairman, its president Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek said. He said MCA had total confidence in Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's leadership and that the party was willing to forego seats it stood no chance of winning.
"As for me, there is no need to discuss seat distribution, we have confidence in the wisdom of the BN leadership under Najib.
"I am stating openly that MCA will not demand seats that we will not win or are not confident of winning.
"We are not a component that likes to "syok sendiri" (likes self flattery)"," he told reporters after meeting hawkers at the Gunung Rapat market here.
He was commenting on reports that MCA's BN partner Gerakan stood a better chance of winning the Gopeng parliamentary and Malim Nawar state seats, which are traditionally MCA seats, in the next general election.
The report came about following an earlier report in an English daily on Aug 14 which said that MCA would be contesting the Puchong parliamentay seat which had been contested by Gerakan in the last two elections.
On this, Dr Chua said the two parties need not swap seats if each was confident they were more "winnable".
"I am of the opinion that whether a candidate of a certain party can win or not depends on some criterias, firstly the division (of the party) must be active, second, do they have sufficient members and third, is their election machinery up to the task?
"Fourth, are they united, committed and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the BN candidate wins and lastly, which party the voters prefer, whether it is MCA, Gerakan, Umno or MIC. That is why we prefer to leave it to the (BN) leadership to decide," he said.
As such, he said, MCA was confident that Najib, who is also Prime Minister, had many sources of feedback to decide which of the parties would be the most suited (for a particular seat).
Following the visit, Dr Chua also announced that Perak state executive councillor Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon would be holding discussions with the hawkers at the market on upgrading the facility using a RM500,000 allocation that would be made available by the Housing and Local Government Ministry. - Bernama

tunku : bravo CSL.we are confident with this attitude from MCA and all the other components parties,BN will win in the 13th GE.what we need is winnable candidates.

Koh slams 'double-standard' Guan Eng over anti-hopping law

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon criticised Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for practising 'double-standards' on a proposal to enact the state's anti-hopping law.
"Where is the consistency? I did not see (DAP stalwart) Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng protest when two MPs (members of parliament) from the Sabah BN (Barisan Nasional) jumped into the Pakatan fold.
"So, why practise double-standards now. Is he doing this for (merely for) show?," he asked.
Last month, MPs Lajim Ukim of Beaufort and Wilfred Bumburing of Tuaran, quit their parties and formed new political groups which support Pakatan.
Speaking to reporters at Menara PGRM here, Koh said the anti-hopping law went against the principle of freedom of association guaranteed by the Federal Consitution.
He added that MPs should be given freedom to associate with any party.
Recently, Lim announced that his state government was planning to legislate against party-hopping to prevent "frogs and tadpoles" from breeding in Penang.
"If Lim was really serious about enacting this law, then he should first criticise (Pakatan Rakyat leader) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on why he (Anwar) kept silent when BN MPs jumped over to the Pakatan fold," noted Koh.
Meanwhile, on Gerakan's list of candidates for the coming general election, the party president advised potential candidates not to do "anything stupid" and create anger among the people, failing which they would be dropped from the list.

tunku: this anti hopping law only applies to pakatan only.they are willing to accept others into their party but do not let their members to jump out.it is real double standard no doubt.

MANSOR AND GANG NEED TO REVIEW THEIR POSITIONS

Now it is in the open...the relationship between the three parties in
Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is not as good as it is made to be and believe. Except
for the top leadership of the parties that project the ‘so-called
closeness’, the undercurrent is far from what is shown in public.
Penang deputy Chief Minister Mansor Othman’s comments about his boss Lim
Guan Eng that was leaked in the minutes of his meeting showed a clear
‘antagonistic’ attitude towards Guan Eng.
Not just the words ‘arrogant and to’kong’, more so the internal bickering
on their working relationship was revealed indirectly – they just cannot
work together on seat allocations what more to rule on consensus as the
leadership have projected.
Guan Eng’s antics are no longer a secret, dictatorial with a slant in
racism – Malays and Indians do not seem to exist in his administration of
the state.
Mansor and other Malay leaders in state PKR as well as PAS should by now
decide whether to continue playing second fiddles on tools to dominant DAP
or leave the party and join Barisan Nasional (BN).
There is still time for them to reflect on their past and chart a new path
for the future – that is if all of them think the Malays and Indians in the
state should be treated equally economically and politically.
There is nothing wrong in admitting one’s mistakes and return to the right
path because every human make mistakes and returning to the right path is
considered as brave and honest.
Right now, Mansor and other Malay leaders including PAS leaders in the
state are mere followers to a seemingly dictatorial administration where
they cannot even open ntheir mouths to proetc or promote the Malays or the
Indian voters.
It is no wonder that Guan Eng is so powerful and the Chinese voters in
Penang love him as whatever he said is taken as orders – no two ways about
it.
Mansor and PAS leaders in the state cannot depend on de factor Chief Anwar
Ibrahim to defend them because that man is busy planning his own future to
be the Prime Minister, no matter what it takes – even selling his loyal
friends like Mansor and PAS leaders in the state.
Anwar just wanted the support for him to be number one in the country and
he could not care less about the rest.
Given such situation, Mansor and the Malay leaders in PKR and PAS leaders
in the state should think for themselves and the future of their struggle
for the Malays and Islam.

The Meaning of Eid

Eid means recurring happiness or festivity. There are two such Eid in Islam. The first is called Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Fast Breaking).
It falls on the first day of Shawwaal, the tenth month of the Muslim year, following the month of Ramadhaan in which the Holy Qur’an was revealed and which is the month of fasting.
The second is called Eid al-Adhaa (the Festival of sacrifice). It falls on the tenth day of Zulhijjah, the final month of the Muslim year. The Islamic Eid are unique in every way. To them there can be nothing similar in any other religion or any other sociopolitical system. Besides their highly spiritual and moral characteristics, they have matchless qualities.
Each Eid is a wholesome celebration of a remarkable achievement of the individual Muslim in the service of Allah SWT. The first Eid comes after an entire month of 'absolute' fasting during the days of the month. The second Eid marks the completion of Hajj to Mecca, a course in which the Muslim handsomely demonstrates his renouncement of the mundane concerns and hearkens only to the eternal voice of Allah SWT.
Each Eid is a thanksgiving day where Muslims assemble in a brotherly and joyful atmosphere to offer their gratitude to Allah SWT for helping them to fulfill their spiritual obligations prior to the Eid. This form of thanksgiving is not confined to spiritual devotion and verbal expressions. It goes far beyond that to manifest itself in a handsome shape of social and humanitarian spirit. The Muslims who have completed the fasting of Ramadhaan express their thanks to Allah SWT by means of distributing alms among the poor and needy on the first Eid before the prayer.
Eid also is a day of remembrance. Even in their most joyful times the Muslims make a flesh stall of the day by a plural session of worship to Allah SWT. They pray to Him and glorify His name to demonstrate their remembrance of His favors. Along with that course, they remember the deceased by praying for their souls, the needy by extending a hand of help, the grieved by showing them sympathy and consolation, the sick by cheerful visits and utterances of good wishes, the absentees by cordial greetings and sincere considerateness. Thus, the meaning of remembrance on the day transcends all limits and expands over far-reaching dimensions of human life.
Most of the imaam when delivering the Eid khutbah will mention that Eid is a day of victory. The individual who succeeds in securing his spiritual rights and growth receives the Eid with a victorious spirit. The individual who faithfully observes the duties, which are associated with the Eid, is a triumphant one. He proves that he holds a strong command over his desires, exercises a sound self-control and enjoys the taste of disciplinary life.
Once a person acquires these qualities, he has achieved his greatest victory because the person who knows how to control himself and discipline his desires is free from sin and wrong, from fear and cowardice, from vice and indecency, from jealousy and greed, from humiliation and all other causes of enslavement. Therefore, when he receives the Eid, which marks the achievement of this freedom, he is in fact celebrating his victory, and the Eid thus becomes a day of victory.
This is the proper meaning of an Islamic Eid. It is a day of thanksgiving, a day of festive remembrance and a day of moral victory. An Islamic Eid is all this and is much more because it is a day of Islam, a day of Allah SWT. Celebrate this coming Eid with the true imaan and taqwa. InshaaAllah, besides having enjoyment, we will be blessed by Allah SWT.

Zakaah al-Fitr

1. MEANING

Zakaah al-Fitr is often referred to as Sadaqah al-Fitr. The word Fitr means the same as Iftaar, breaking a fast and it comes from the same root word as Futoor which means breakfast. Thus, Islamically, Zakaah al-Fitr is the name given to charity which is distributed at the end of the fast of Ramadaan.

2. CLASSIFICATION

Sadaqah al-Fitr is a duty which is Waajib on every Muslim, whether male or female, minor or adult as long as he/she has the means to do so.
The proof that this form of charity is compulsory can be found in the Sunnah whereby Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) made Zakaah al-Fitr compulsory on every slave, freeman, male, female, young and old among the Muslims; one Saa` of dried dates or one Saa` of barely. [collected by Bukhaaree - Arabic/English, vol. 2, p. 339, no. 579]
The head of the household may pay the required amount for the other members. Abu Sa'eed al-Khudree said, "On behalf of our young and old, free men and slaves, we used to take out during Allaah's Messenger's (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) lifetime one Saa` of grain, cheese or raisins". [collected by Muslim - English transl. vol. 2, p. 469, no. 2155]

3. SIGNIFICANCE

The significant role played by Zakaah in the circulation of wealth within the Islamic society is also played by the Sadaqah al-Fitr. However, in the case of Sadaqah al-Fitr, each individual is required to calculate how much charity is due from himself and his dependents and go into the community in order to find those who deserve such charity. Thus, Sadaqah al-Fitr plays a very important role in the development of the bonds of community. The rich are obliged to come in direct contact with the poor, and the poor are put in contact with the extremely poor. This contact between the various levels of society helps to build real bonds of brotherhood and love within the Islamic community and trains those who have, to be generous to those who do not have.
4. PURPOSE

The main purpose of Zakaah al-Fitr is to provide those who fasted with the means of making up for their errors during the month of fasting. Zakaah al-Fitr also provides the poor with a means with which they can celebrate the festival of breaking the fast (`Eed al-Fitr) along with the rest of the Muslims.
Ibn Abbaas reported, "The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) made Zakaah al-Fitr compulsory so that those who fasted may be purified of their idle deeds and shameful talk (committed during Ramadaan) and so that the poor may be fed. Whoever gives it before Salaah will have it accepted as Zakaah, while he who gives it after the Salaah has given Sadaqah." [collected by Abu Dawood - Eng. transl. vol. 2, p. 421, no. 1605 - rated Saheeh by Shaikh Naser Al-Albanee]
Hence, the goal of Sadaqah al-Fitr is the spiritual development of the Believers. By making them give up some of their wealth, the believers are taught the higher moral characteristics of generosity, compassion (sympathy for the unfortunate), gratitude to God and the righteousness. But, since Islaam does not neglect man's material need, part of the goal of Zakaah al-Fitr is the economic well-being of the poorer members of society.

5. CONDITIONS

Zakaah al-Fitr is only Waajib for a particular period of time. If one misses the time period without a good reason, he has sinned and can not make it up. This form of charity becomes obligatory from sunset on the last day of fasting and remains obligatory until the beginning of Salaah al-'Eed' (i.e. shortly after sunrise on the following day). However, it can be paid prior to the above mentioned period, as many of the Sahaabah (companions of the Prophet(sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) ) used to pay Sadaqah al-Fitr a couple days before the `Eed.
Naafi reported that the Prophet's companion Ibn `Umar used to give it to those who would accept it and the people used to give it a day or two before the `Eed. [collected by al-Bukhaaree - Arabic/English, Vol. 2, p.339, no. 579]
Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) order that it (Zakaah al-Fitr) be given before people go to make the Salaah (al-'Eed).
And Ibn `Abbaas reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Whoever gives it before the Salaah will have it accepted as Zakaah, while he who gives it after the Salaah (will not, for it will only be considered as) ordinary charity." Therefore, one who forgets to pay this Zakaah al-Fitr on time should do so as soon as possible even though it will not be counted as Zakaah al-Fitr.
6. RATE

The amount of Zakaah is the same for everyone regardless of their different income brackets. The minimum amount is one Saa` (two handfuls ) of food, grain or dried fruit for each member of the family. This calculation is based on Ibn `Umar's report that the Prophet(sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) made Zakaah al-Fitr compulsory and payable by a Saa` of dried dates or a Saa` of barley.
The Sahaabee, Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree said, "In the Prophet's time, we used to give it (Zakaah al-Fitr) as a Saa` of food, dried dates, barley, raisins or dried cheese". [collected by al-Bukhaaree - Arabic/English vol. 2, p. 340, no. 582]

When the Night Equals a Thousand

It was narrated that in the days that Musa (Alahi salaam) wandered with Bani Israel in the desert an intense drought befell them. Together, they raised their hands towards the heavens praying for the blessed rain to come. Then, to the astonishment of Musa (Alahi salaam) and all those watching, the few scattered clouds that were in the sky vanished, the heat poured down, and the drought intensified.
It was revealed to Musa that there was a sinner amongst the tribe of Bani Israel whom had disobeyed Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) for more than forty years of his life. 'Let him separate himself from the congregation,' Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) told Musa (Alahi salaam). 'Only then shall I shower you all with rain.'
Musa (Alahi salaam) then called out to the throngs of humanity, 'There is a person amongst us who has disobeyed Allah for forty years. Let him separate himself from the congregation and only then shall we be rescued from the drought.' That man, waited, looking left and right, hoping that someone else would step forward, but no one did. Sweat poured forth from his brow and he knew that he was the one.
The man knew that if he stayed amongst the congregation all would die of thirst and that if he stepped forward he would be humiliated for all eternity.
He raised his hands with a sincerity he had never known before, with a humility he had never tasted, and as tears poured down on both cheeks he said: 'O Allah, have mercy on me! O Allah, hide my sins! O Allah, forgive me!'
As Musa (Alahi salaam) and the people of Bani Israel awaited for the sinner to step forward, the clouds hugged the sky and the rain poured. Musa (Alahi salaam) asked Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala), 'O Allah, you blessed us with rain even though the sinner did not come forward.' And Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) replied, 'O Musa, it is for the repentance of that very person that I blessed all of Bani Israel with water.'
Musa (Alahi salaam), wanting to know who this blessed man was, asked, 'Show him to me O Allah!' Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) replied, 'O Musa, I hid his sins for forty years, do you think that after his repentance I shall expose him?'
Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) revealed the Qur'an in the most blessed month; the month of Ramadan, the month in which the Qur'an was sent down.
On the most blessed night, the Grand night: Laylatul Qadr; 'Verily, we revealed the Qur'an on the night of Qadr.'
Ibn Jareer narrates, on the authority of Mujaahid that there was a man from Bani Israel who used to spend the night in prayer. Then in the morning he would fight the enemy in the Way of Allah during the day, until the evening and he did this for a thousand months.
And so Allah revealed the Surah: 'Verily, We sent it down in the night of Al-Qadr? until the verse 'The night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months' That is, standing in prayer on that night is better than the actions of that man.
Sufyaan ath-Thawree reports, on the authority of Mujaahid (also), that the night of Al-Qadr being better than a thousand months means that the good deeds performed on it, fasting on it, and standing in prayer on it are better than a thousand months? good deeds, prayers and fasting. (Narrated by Ibn Jareer)
It is reported from Abu Hurairah that he said: 'When the month of Ramadan came, the Messenger of Allah said: 'The month of Ramadan has come, a blessed month in which Allah has made it obligatory for you to fast; in it the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained. In it is a night better than a thousand months, whoever loses the benefit of it has lost something irreplaceable.?' (Narrated by Imam Ahmad and An-Nasaa'i).
It is reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah, that Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: 'Whoever stood in prayer on the night of Al-Qadr, in faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, he will have all of his previous sins forgiven.' (Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
This one night surpasses the value of 30,000 nights. The sincere believer who worries day and night about his sins and phases of neglect in his life patiently awaits the onset of Ramadan. During it he hopes to be forgiven by Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) for past sins, knowing that the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) promised that all who bear down during the last ten days shall have all their sins forgiven. To achieve this, the believer remembers the Prophet's (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) advice in different sayings wherein he used words like 'seek', 'pursue', 'search' and 'look hard' for Laylatul Qadr.
Laylatul Qadr is the most blessed night. A person who misses it has indeed missed a great amount of good. The Mu'min should search for it in the last ten nights of Ramadan, passing the nights in worship and obedience.
For those who catch the opportunity, their gift is that of past sins wiped away.
The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) illustrated for us some of the things we should be doing on this Grand Night. From his blessed Sunnah we find the following:

Praying Qiyaam (night prayer):

It is recommended to make a long qiyaam prayer during the nights on which Laylatul Qadr could fall. This is indicated in many ahadeeth, such as 'Whoever stands (in qiyaam) in Laylatul Qadr [and it is facilitated for him] out of faith and expectation (of Allah's reward), will have all of his previous sins forgiven.' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim; the addition 'and it is facilitated for him' is recorded by Ahmad from the report of 'Ubaadah Bin as-Samit; it means that he is permitted to be among the sincere worshippers during that blessed night.]

Making Supplications:

It is also recommended to make extensive supplication on this night. 'A'ishah reported that she asked Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) 'O Messenger of Allah! If I knew which night is Laylatul Qadr, what should I say during it?' And he instructed her to say:
'Allahumma innaka `afuwwun tuhibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee - O Allah! You are forgiving, and you love forgiveness. So forgive me.' [An authentic Hadith recorded by Ahmad, Ibn Majah and at-Tirmidhi.]
Abandoning Worldly Pleasures for the Sake of Worship: It is further recommended to spend more time in worship during the nights on which Laylatul Qadr is likely to fall. This calls for abandoning many worldly pleasures in order to secure the time and thoughts solely for worshipping Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala).
'A'ishah reported: 'When the (last) ten started, the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would tighten his izaar (i.e. he stayed away from his wives in order to have more time for worship), spend the whole night awake (in prayer) and wake up his family.' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
And she said: 'Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) used to exert more (in worship) on the last ten than on other nights.' [Muslim]
Have we estimated Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) correctly?
The opportunity of Laylatul Qadr is coming in the next few days. Life is about people that take advantage of their opportunities to win the love of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala), and this is indeed one of those chances.
Abu Dah Daah was one of those who found an opportunity and won that which is greater than the heavens and the earth. An adult companion of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) cultivated his garden next to the property of an orphan. The orphan claimed that a specific palm tree was on his property and thus belonged to him. The companion rejected the claim and off to the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) went the orphan boy to complain. With his justness, the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) measured the two gardens and found that the palm tree did indeed belong to the companion. The orphan erupted crying. Seeing this, the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) offered the companion, 'would you give him the palm tree and to you is a palm tree in Jannah?' However, the companion in his disbelief that an orphan would complain to the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) missed the opportunity and went away angry.
But someone else saw the opportunity, Abu Dah Daah - radi Allahu 'anhu. He went to the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and asked, 'Ya Rasul Allah, if I buy the tree from him and give it to the orphan shall I have that tree in Jannah?' The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) replied, 'Yes.'
Abu Dah Daah chased after the companion and asked, 'Would you sell that tree to me for my entire garden?' The companion answered, 'Take it for there is no good in a tree that I was complained to the Prophet about.'
Immediately, Abu Dah Daah went home and found his wife and children playing in the garden. 'Leave the garden!' shouted Abu Dah Daah, 'we've sold it to Allah! We've sold it to Allah!' Some of his children had dates in their hand and he snached the dates from them and threw them back into the garden. 'We've sold it to Allah!'
When Abu Dah Daah was later martyred in the battle of Uhud, Rasul Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) stood over his slain body and remarked, 'How many shady palm trees does Abu Dah Daah now have in paradise?'
What did Abu Dah Daah lose? Dates? Bushes? Dirt? What did he gain? He gained a Jannah whose expanse is the heavens and the earth.
Abu Dah Daah did not miss his opportunity, and I pray to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) that we do not miss our opportunity of standing to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) on Laylatul Qadr.
Dear brothers and sisters, we do not obey, worship and revere Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) in a way befitting of His Majesty.
Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) revealed: 'No just estimate have they made of Allah, such as is due to Him. On the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be but His handful, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand: Glory to Him! High is He above the partners they attribute to Him' (Surat al-An'aam, Ayat 91).
Everything that we have belongs to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala). When someone dies we say, Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji'oon, Indeed to Allah we belong and indeed to Him we shall return. This is not a supplication just for when a soul is lost. It is a supplication for every calamity that befalls a believer, even if his sandal were to tear. Why? Because everything belongs to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and everything shall come back to him. Sit and try to count the blessings Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) has bestowed upon you. Have you ever tried to count stars?
'And He giveth you of all that ye ask for. But if ye count the favors of Allah, never will ye be able to number them. Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude' (Surat Ibrahim, Ayat 34).
We have not understood the weight of this Qur'an that we rest on our high shelves, this Noble book that was sent to give life to the dead. For even if our hearts were as solid as rock they would have crumbled to the ground in fear and hope of Allah's (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) punishment and Mercy. Could it be that our hearts are harder than that mountain?
'Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain, verily, thou wouldst have seen it humble itself and split asunder in fear of Allah (Surat al-Hashr, Ayat 21).
Dear brothers and sisters, as you fill the Masajid for Qiyamul Layl in the last ten nights of Ramadan, remember what Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) wants you to know:
'Know ye that Allah is strict in punishment and that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.'
There shall be a night, some night in your life that you shall awaken in Jannah or Hell fire. Anas ibn Malik, on his deathbed, prayed to Allah, (Subhanahu wa ta'ala), 'O Allah, protect from a night whose morning brings a journey to hell fire.' Think about that morning.
Peace shall descend on Laylatul Qadr until the dawn. It may be that you shall leave the Masjid after Fajr one day soon forgiven by Allah, Glorious and Most High.

The concept of Charity in Islam

Charity, preached by every religion of the world, is a way of bringing justice to society. And justice is the essence of religion, Islam has therefore made charity that is Zakah, obligatory and binding upon all those who embrace the faith; it has been made into an institution in order to give in permanence and regularity.

A society can flourish only when its members do not spend all their wealth to fulfil their own desires but reserve a portion of it for parents, relatives, neighbors, the poor and the debilitated. As the saying goes: Charity begins at home. A true believer is thus always prepared, after meeting the needs of his family, to assist other people in need of his help.

Thus the spirit of kindness and well wishing is the essence of charity. The giver is not to expect any reward from the beneficiary as there awaits for him an abundant reward from God - material, moral and spiritual - what God deems it best to confer on His servant.

Charity should be lawfully earned or acquired by the giver. It should include such things as are of use and value to others.

"Charity is for those in need." This is general principle which enjoins us to help people in need, be they good or bad, on the right path or not, Muslims or non-Muslims. No one should judge in these matters. The foremost ends in charity should be God's pleasure and our own spiritual good. The concept of charity in Islam is thus linked with justice. It is not limited to the redressal of grievances. It implies apart from the removal of handicaps, the recognition of the right that every human being has to attain the fullness of life.

The spirit of helping others to earn God's pleasure is best reflected in Muslim society in the field of education. The greatest charity for a Muslim is to learn something and then teach it to other Muslims in large numbers. Thus Muslims have devoted themselves to other's education generation after generation. Knowledge is the most wonderful thing in the whole universe. That is why there is nothing greater then knowledge being imparted by one human being to another. Muslims on a large scale have engaged themselves in receiving education and imparting it to others, individually as well as by establishing maktabs and madrasas, that is, primary schools and Colleges. These educational institutions established in the house of the teachers or in separate buildings, generally made no charges for instruction. During the medieval period, these madrasas flourished in tens of thousands throughout the Muslim world. The wealthy people helped in running these madrasas, not only though Zakah, but also by making endowments (wakf), of their properties as these madrasas. The income from these properties met the needs of these schools. The orphans and poor people were given stipends over and above free board and lodging.

There are two forms of charity in Islam - obligatory and voluntary, called Zakah and Sadaqah respectively.

The concept of charity appears in most of the world's religions. The Islamic tradition has rigid laws associated with it. It is said that those Muslims who do not abide by them are surely noticed by their God, Allah (SWT). Charity in Islam is seen as an amplification of the ideal of community within the religion. When a Muslim person raises funds he is not gathering money for a stranger, rather he is acting on behalf of his own family. Everyone in the Islamic community is seen to reside in the house of Allah, as one people. Thus the definition of charity in Islamic tradition differs somewhat from its interpretation in other contexts.

The Qur'an states: 'And be steadfast in your prayer and pay charity; whatever good you send forth for your future, you shall find it with Allah, for Allah is well aware of what you do' (2:110). Charity is central to a Muslim's life.

The best charity is to satisfy a hungry person, said Prophet Muhammad (SAS). He also said "No wealth (of a servant of Allah) is decreased because of charity." (Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 2247).

This writer believes in the axiom "WE KNOW HOW TO MAKE MONEY BUT WE DO NOT KNOW WHO TO SPEND MONEY". We spend the first 20 to 30 years of our lives in acquiring skilled and marketable talents to earn money, but we are not taught how to spend money. We are not given guidance concerning financial transactions.

Spending in the way of Allah 'fee Sabil Allah" e.g. in Hajj, in Jihad, the poor, on widows and orphans or on relatives and friends to help them out. The Qur'an encourages the Muslim to donate their funds: 'the likeness of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain that sprouts seven spikes. In every spike there are 100 grains, and Allah multiplies for whom He will' (2:261). Giving charity is thereby not seen as detracting from income, but rather as a multiplication in terms of spiritual observance. It is like one who sows a good grain of wheat in the field from which grows a plant on which sprout seven ears and each ear yields hundred grains. As a result, one grain was worth a total yield of 700 grains. When one spends in the way of Allah, he or she receives in return (reward in the Hereafter) on the scale of one to seven hundred.

Sayyidna Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA) said: The rewards of spending one dirham in Jihad and Hajj is equal to 700 dirhams.

How to get 700 grains out of one grain? This is possible only when the grain is good. The farmer is an expert in the art of farming. The soil for the grain should be good; we need to add fertilizer, water, and sunshine to the plant. One needs to prevent disease to the plant and also prevent the plant to be eaten by cattle, etc. Similarly that which is spent in the way of Allah should be clean, pure and Halal (lawful)- BECAUSE ALLAH ALMIGHTY ACCEPTS NOTHING EXCEPT WHAT IS CLEAN, PURE AND HALAL.

Spender should be good in intentions and righteous in deeds. The one to whom Sadaqah (charity) is given should also be deserving of it. It should not be wasted by spending on the non-deserving.

Masnoon (according to Sunnah)

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying that Allah, the Most Blessed and High, said: O son of Adam, I will spend on you. The right hand of Allah is full and overflowing and nothing would diminish it, by overspending day and night. (Sahih Muslim; Kitab al-Zakat; p. 477)

The following five words are the most frequently used words to describe charity in the Noble Qur'an:

1. Infaq fi Sabil Allah (spending in the path of Allah). Infaq Meaning spending benevolently

2. Ihsan Meaning the doing of good or (kindness and consideration

3. Zakah Meaning growth or purification

4. Sadaqah Derived from the root sidq and meaning truth, and comes to signify charitable deed

5. Khayrat Meaning good deeds

I'TIKAF

1. I'TIKAF in the first ten and in the mid ten days of Ramadan:

Abu Sai'id Al-Khudri Radiyallahu Anh narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) observed I'tikaf in the first ten days of Ramadan; he then observed I'tikaf in the middle ten days in a Turkish tent with a mat hanging at its door. The Prophet (PBUH) took hold of that mat and place it in the nook of the tent. He then put his head out, and talked with people who came nera him, and he said: I observed I'tikaf in the first ten nights and days in order to seek that night (Night of Decree). I then observed I'tikaf in the middle ten days. Then an angel was sent to me, and I was told that this night is among the last ten nights. He who among you like to observe I'tikaf may do so," and people observed it along with him, and he again said: "That Night of Decree was shown to me in an odd night and I saw in the dream that I was prostrating in the morning in mud and water." So in the morning of the twenty-first night when the Prophet (PBUH) got up for dawn prayer, there was rainfall and the mosque dripped, and I saw mud and water. When he came out after he finished the morning prayer, he saw that his forehead and the tip of his nose had traces of mud and water, and that was the twenty-first night of the last ten nights of Ramadan. (Bukhari 2018). (Source: Summarized Sahih Muslim, Volume 1, Hadith 632)

2. I'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan
'Aishah Radiyallahu Anha narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) was regular in observing I'tikaf in the last ten (days) of Ramadan until Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, collected him. His wives also used to observe I'tikaf with him. (Bukhari 2026). (Source: Summarized Sahih Muslim, Volume 1, Hadith 633)

2.1. Striving hard in the last ten (of Ramadan)
'Aishah Radiyallahu Anha narrated that when the last ten nights of Ramadan began the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) kept awake at nights (for prayer and worship), awoke his family, strove hard and fastened his lower garment. (Bukhari 2024) (Source: Summarized Sahih Muslim, Volume 1, Hadith 634)

3. Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree) and seeking it in the last ten (nights) of Ramadan
Ibn 'Umar Radiyallahu Anhuma narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Seek it (Lailat-ul-Qadr) in the last ten (nights). If one of you shows slackness in the earlier part of Ramadan, let it not be weak to observe the last seven." (Bukhari 2015) (Source: Summarized Sahih Muslim, Volume 1, Hadith 635)

4. Lailat-ul-Qadr was the twenty-third night of Ramadan
'Abdullah bin Unais Radiyallahu Anh narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "I was shown Lailat-ul-Qadr; then I was made to forget it. I saw that I was prostrating in water and mud in the morning of that night." The narrator said: There was a downpour on the twenty-third night and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) led us in prayer, and as he went back, there was a trace of water and mud on his forehead and on his nose. The narrator added: "Abdullah bin Unais used to say that it was the twenty-third night. (Source: Summarized Sahih Muslim, Volume 1, Hadith 636)

5. Seek it (Lailat-ul-Qadr) in the ninth and seventh and the fifth (in the last ten nights of Ramadan):
Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri Radiyallahu Anh narrated: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) observed I'tikaf in the middle ten days of Ramadan to seek Lailat-ul-Qadr, before it was shown to him. When these nights were over, he ordered a tent to be pitched. Then it was shown to him that (Lailat-ul-Qadr) was in the last ten nights of Ramadan. Then he ordered to pitch the tent again. He then came to people and said: "O people, Lailat-ul-Qadr was shown to me and I came out to tell you about it, but two man were quarrelling with each other, and there was a devil along with them, and I forgot it. So seek it in the last ten nights of Ramadan. Seek it on the ninth, on the seventh and on the fifth." One of the narrators said: "Abu Sa'id, you know more than about numbers." He said: "Yes, indeed we know better than you." I said: "What is this ninth, seventh, and fifth?" He said: "When twenty-one nights are over and the twenty-second begins, it is the ninth; and when twenty-three nights are over, that which follows is the seventh; and when twenty-five nights are over, what follows is the fifth." (Bukhari2016) (Source: Summarized Sahih Muslim, Volume 1, Hadith 637)

Chua challenges Khalid to debate on Talam

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA Young Professionals Bureau chairman Datuk Chua Tee Yong has challenged Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to a debate on the RM1bil questionable deal involving Talam Corporation Bhd.
He said he only wanted to debate with Khalid and not other exco members, including those from DAP.
“I don't want to debate with any DAP members that have third hand information.
“I want to debate with the Selangor Mentri Besar on this Talam deal,” he said at a press conference in Wisma MCA Wednesday.
Chua in recent months, has raised various questions pertaining to the exercise, which he said was to recover RM392mil in debts from Talam but instead had ended in deals worth more than RM1bil.
The state government is said to have acquired land worth RM392mil and bought additional assets for RM248mil from Talam, bringing the total acquisition to RM676mil.
The RM676mil is part of the RM1bil in questionable deals.

tunku : wonder if khalid dare to accept this challenge.if khalid think he's right then he should take this challenge.otherwise what ever chua had said all these while regarding talam is true.

ANWAR MAY BE DISAPPOINTED IN SABAH SOON

SABAH, Anwar Ibrahim’s favourite haunt to boost his ego with the ready MPs and state assemblymen to ‘jump ship’ to suit their own purpose.
So far Wilfred Bumburing from Tuaran, Lajim Ukin and Senator Maijol Mahap have defected to Anwar while he boasts of few more coming over to his side.
The Sabah ‘jump overs’ have been Anwar’s ‘ace cards’ as he struggles to ‘convince’ more to jump, making it easier for him to go to Putrajaya, his ultimate aim in life probably.
He was just ‘an inch’ away from Putrajaya when he was knocked down by passing train..ha ha ha…which make him so mad that he would not want to rest until he gets the ‘throne’.
And in his madness, craze for power to do anything he wants, he travels around the country looking for ‘jumpers’ to achieve his aim, to fulfill his yearnings to be the number one man in the country.
Sabah, for him is a playground as the people there, as far he is concern, are easy prey to his magical charms, his promises that he himself has yet to fulfill which he probably has doubts himself.
Easy manipulation…Anwar the man who manipulates anybody to get to his goal now treats Sabah as his new ‘source of political income’ which is votes…as he knows his manipulations can go far in that state.
The state is not a new playground for him but it is an old playground re-visited, the state that had disappointed him in September 2008 and now he is out for revenge, the vendetta he had waited three years.
However, he is probably in for a second disappointment. The people who defected actually have no more influence over the voters whom they claimed are their supporters.
Sabahans are now much more clever and smarter. They know they are sought after by politicians of both the divide and they know very well who are the liars and who are the workers – those who work to uplift their economic status.
They know the truth about all the politicians that fly up and down their state, the politicians that throw promises and never fulfill and those that give no promises but deliver the goods.
They know all of them and they know who to pick. No need for politicians to come and go and throw promises because they know what these politicians can do and what they cannot do.
They are no longer like ‘children’ who are awed by the sweet talks and pormises and Anwar knew this. That is why he is trying to get as many MPs and assemblymen to defect so that they can become testament to his so-called future promises.
And he plays the game in Sabah confidently as though the state in his hands, smiling that arrogant smile to BN, as if saying: “This is mine.”

Najib Instructs Cabinet To Review Section 114A Of Evidence Act

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has once again proven that his government regards the people's views as top priority when he directed the Cabinet to review controversial amendments to Section 114A of the Evidence Act 1950.
Section 114A is one of two amendments passed in April and gazetted on June 31.
"I have asked the Cabinet to discuss Section 114A of the Evidence Act 1950. Whatever we do we must put people first," said Najib in his Twitter Tuesday.
Najib is presently in Mecca for the two-day Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Extraordinary Summit beginning today.
The directive by the prime minister who is an active Facebook, blog and Twitter user, on the contentious amendments which are being hotly debated on the Internet reflects prompt response by a national leader to an issue.
Campaigns on the Act spurred by the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) and banners via Facebook with the heading "Stop 114A" have been downloaded by the diverse internet users in the country.
A popular forum in Malaysia, cari.com.my has resorted to using plain black and white colour on its site as a mark of protest against the Act.
Section 114A is argued to be lopsided as it can liberally bring to court those who publish and replicate or post seditious and defamatory contents in the Internet regardless of whether or not the material originated from them.

tunku : please review it Mr Prime Minister. we count on you.we don't need 114A.

Israel Rules The World By Proxy - Tun Mahathir

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- There is substance to allegations that Israel rules the world by proxy, says former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"I wonder whether people notice it or not, but Presidential candidates of the United States of America, the sole superpower, all have to seek approval from Israel.
"Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate for President, has just made the pilgrimage. And he has made a public pledge that he will be even tougher against the Palestinians and Iran than Obama (US President Barack Obama)," he said in his latest entry in his blog at chedet.cc today.
Mahathir believes Obama will soon make this pilgrimage and make more promises to fight for Israel.
"This situation is odd and Malaysians would not think this approach is proper during the national general election.
"What if Malaysian candidates for elections have to visit a neighbouring country to pledge our friendship or support for it?
"Our elections are about gaining the support of Malaysians for the party that will form the government. What other countries think of our government's policies is irrelevant," he said.
Apparently, Mahathir said, it was not the case with America, whereby all candidates must literally pledge loyalty to Israel or risk losing the elections.
"It is not about what is good for the Unites States which counts.
"One can imagine the policies that will be adopted by whichever government or president wins, and it is clear the United States cannot ignore Israel's views when reacting to anything of concern to Israel.
"Looks like the tail is wagging the dog," he said.

tunku : it is happening in Malaysia now. the minority is controlling everything because the majority is divided into few fractions. the minority loves this because now they can control and make who they want to be in power. of course the person will have to bow down to them and their demands. so majority, wake up and be united.

Dong Zong’s Apartheid Agenda

Dong Zong is really starting to scare the rational Chinese, anger the Malays and annoy all the peace-loving, patriotic Malaysians. We know for a fact that not all Chinese are as racist as Dong Zong’s. Most Chinese have already accepted the fact that they are Malaysians and to fight for a ‘new China within Malaysia’ like Dong Zong, is simply ridiculous.
The government has fulfilled or at least tried to fulfill most of Dong Zong’s demands no matter how unpractical and risky they are. The Education Ministry had even approved a Chinese Independent High School to be built in Kuantan even though it defies our national aspiration by further segregate the Chinese from other races and increase racial prejudice.
However, nothing would be enough for these Chinese extremists. Not until they could create an apartheid system like what Africa had once endured where the people were separated by colours and segregated in schools, beaches, public transport and etc. With that, whoever has the economic power would automatically be the supreme power and automatically so, the less fortunate or the weak would be forced to settle for less and suffer.
Clearly, Dong Zong are determined to take advantage of the economic power hold by their race to accommodate their selfishness by practicing the apartheid system in Malaysia.
The way Dong Zong pressures and threatens the government on their racist agenda mirrored the true heartlessness of the communists and the underworld gangsters that the Chinese are so popular of. Therefore, how could we guarantee that giving-in to their apartheid system would do the country no harm?
The latest demand by Dong Zong takes their racism to a higher level. These extremists are now demanding that the students in the Chinese Independent Schools should not be required to sit for SPM. At the moment, they have a choice of not sitting for the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) in from 6, if they have gone through SPM. But the government is concerned that without SPM, they will only have UEC which might be a problem for them when looking for jobs in Malaysia.
But surely, it is not of Dong Zong’s concern as the job market is controlled by the Chinese. Should the students are not able to speak their national language due to this, then be it, as this is exactly what Dong Zong is trying to achieve – a whole new unpatriotic generation who would one day create a new China within Malaysia.
If that is not racist and crazy enough, Dong Zong is also demanding that the teachers in the Chinese independent school should not be based on SPM and PMR qualifications. Instead they only accept teachers with full Chinese qualification or in other words, they reject the national education system totally.
This racial, selfish, madness of Dong Zong seems to be unending and for the government to even listen to these extremists, raises questions among ordinary Malaysians.
For Malaysia to have different schools for different race is bad enough, which no country in the world would allow such thing. And to let some extremists reject the national education system totally, is just unthinkable.
It is not an option for any party, groups or individual to defy and deny all the important things that make them Malaysian – the national language and the education system.
For Dong Zong to even demand things like that, shows how little respect they have towards the government and how they have never loved this country but have been longing for ‘China’ all their lives.
Dong Zong is a threat to the country like all extremists are. The government should stop their madness once and for all as there are limits to everything even anger and madness. Some may not be able to control their anger when seeing all these madness. So, be alert that Dong Zong may have triggered a time-bomb and that all time-bombs are scheduled to explode sooner or later.

Hadi has ‘no intention of becoming PM’

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has announced that he has no intention of becoming prime minister should Pakatan Rakyat take over Putrajaya in the next general election.
Although he is eligible for the top post, other matters will require his attention, he explained in an interview with Chinese newspaper Oriental Daily News.
Hadi (right) said PAS requires any candidate for PM to meet two criteria – the individual must be a Muslim and must have the support of the majority of the people.
On this basis, he said PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim would be among those eligible to become PM.
“We can accept Anwar as a candidate for PM, but we would also accept other leaders who have the support of the majority of (Malaysians),” he was quoted as saying.
On the requirement that a Pakatan-appointed PM must enjoy majority support from Muslims, Hadi noted that the political reality is that Malay-Muslims make up the backbone of the voting population.
Following the decision of PAS
On his political prospects, Hadi said he has changed his previous decision of not contesting in the next general election after receiving feedback from party leaders, grassroot members and Pakatan leaders.
“I can only follow the decision of PAS that I should continue to contest,” he said, adding that the party will decide whether he will contest at state level, parliamentary level or both.
Early this year, Hadi had repeatedly announced that he would not seek re-election in the next general polls as he preferred to be fully focussed on party affairs.
Touching on the successor for long-time Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat (right), Hadi said the party already has three or four Kelantan leaders who can succeed the party spiritual leader who is more popularly known as Tok Guru.
“I will listen to the feedback from the Kelantanese. I can’t force them (to accept the MB candidate),” he added.

tunku : it's clearly shows that pas leaders are incapable of becoming the country's top leader. they will always be puppet to dap and pkr. hadi said he had changed his decision of not contesting in the coming GE because the feedback he got from grassroots, well you should not utter a statement just to test the market. be a man and be firmed on what you have decided. don't play melodrama too much.

How to Seek Laylat-ul-Qadr

Laylat ul-Qadr is the most blessed night. A person who misses it has indeed missed a great amount of good. If a believing person is zealous to obey his Lord and increase the good deeds in his record, he should strive to encounter this night and to pass it in worship and obedience. If this is facilitated for him, all of his previous sins will be forgiven.

Praying Qiyaam

It is recommended to make a long Qiyaam prayer during the nights on which Laylat ul-Qadr could fall. This is indicated in many hadeeths, such as the following:
Abu Tharr (radhiallahu `anhu) relates:
"We fasted with Allah's Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) in Ramadaan. He did not lead us (in qiyaam) at all until there were seven (nights of Ramadaan) left. Then he stood with us (that night - in prayer) until one third of the night had passed. He did not pray with us on the sixth. On the fifth night, he prayed with us until half of the night had passed. So we said, 'Allah's Messenger! Wouldn't you pray with us the whole night?' He replied:
'Whoever stands in prayer with the imaam until he (the imaam) concludes the prayer, it is recorded for him that he prayed the whole night.'…" [Recorded by Ibn Abi Shaybah, Abu Dawud, at-Tirmithi (who authenticated it), an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, at-Tahawi (in Sharhu Ma`an il-Athar, Ibn Nasr, al-Faryabi, and al-Bayhaqi. Their isnad is authentic.]
[Point of benefit: Abu Dawud mentioned: "I heard Ahmad being asked, 'Do you like for a man to pray with the people or by himself during Ramadan?' He replied, 'Pray with the people.' I also heard him say, 'I would prefer for one to pray (qiyaam) with the imaam and to pray witr with him as well, for the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "When a man prays with the imaam until he concludes, it is recorded that he prayed the rest of that night." [Masaa'il]]
Abu Hurayrah (radhiallahu `anhu) narrated that the Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Whoever stands (in qiyaam) in Laylat ul-Qadr [and it is facilitated for him] out of faith and expectation (of Allah's reward), will have all of his previous sins forgiven." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim; the addition "and it is facilitated for him" is recorded by Ahmad from the report of `Ubaadah Bin as-Samit; it means that he is permitted to be among the sincere worshippers during that blessed night.]

Making Supplications

It is also recommended to make extensive supplication on this night. `A'ishah (radhiallahu `anha) reported that she asked Allah's Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam), "O Messenger of Allah! If I knew which night is Laylat ul-Qadr, what should I say during it?" And he instructed her to say:
"Allahumma innaka `afuwwun tuh.ibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee - O Allah! You are forgiving, and you love forgiveness. So forgive me." [Recorded by Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and at-Tirmithi. Verified to be authentic by Al-Albani]

Abandoning Worldly Pleasures for the Sake of Worship
It is further recommended to spend more time in worship during the nights on which Laylat ul-Qadr is likely to be. This calls for abandoning many worldly pleasures in order to secure the time and thoughts solely for worshipping Allah.
`A'ishah (radhiallahu `anha) reported:
"When the (last) ten started, the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) would tighten his izaar (i.e. he stayed away from his wives in order to have more time for worship), spend the whole night awake (in prayer), and wake up his family." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
And she said:
"Allah's Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) used to exert more (in worship) on the last ten than on other nights." [Muslim]
