Hadi: M'sian Syariah laws influenced by colonial elements

KOTA BARU: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang claimed Tuesday that Malaysian Syariah laws were still influenced by elements of the colonial era.
He said Syariah laws in the country should fully subscribe to Islamic elements as this would ensure that the revealing of a sex video said to feature a man resembling Opposition leader and PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim could not be used as a weapon to defame a person.
"Islamic law enactments in the country are a leftover of the British," he told reporters after calling on Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, at the MB's official residence here.
He also questioned why the religious authorities had not arrested the "actor" in the video.
On Monday, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had asked the National Fatwa Council to make a ruling as to whether the video recording could be tendered as evidence in court to resolve the issue as it was claimed it involved Anwar.
At the just-concluded PAS muktamar (general assembly) in Kuala Lumpur, Hadi had said that the video could not be tendered as evidence as Islamic laws required four eyewitnesses to convict a person of committing sodomy or adultery. - Bernama

tunku : why worry on the syariah law in malaysia.it has nothing to do with pas anymore as they have dropped all the islamic values. is it just because want to save one person's neck hadi is telling that the syariah laws influenced by the colonial elements? what about if that person is from BN? then everyhting will be fine. this shows clearly how twisted tongue is this so called ulama.hadi awang is power crazy now. islam is no longer important to him.
