Arrest Those Leaders Involved in Bersih Protest Under ISA

36 Police Reports Made In Perlis Against Planned 'Bersih' Protest

KANGAR, June 13 (Bernama) -- Thirty-six police reports have been lodged over four days in Perlis against the planned protest by election watchdog Bersih 2.0 in Kuala Lumpur on July 7.
The reports were made by, among others, the Kangar Umno Division, Kangar Wanita Umno, Kangar Puteri Umno, Perlis Menteri Besar Supporters' Club, Felda Chuping settlers, Mata Ayer State Constituency village development and security committees chairmen, Village's Security Committee in Mata Ayer State Constituency, Kampung Bakau Village Development and Security Committee, Perlis Siamese Community and Arau Umno Division.
Azali Abas, the political secretary of the Perlis menteri besar, who lodged a report at the Kangar police station today, called on the authorities to stop the holding of the protest.
Kangar Wanita Umno head Rela Ahmad said the opposition could use other means of protesting against the government.
President of the Menteri Besar Supporters' Club, Zulkeflee Ibrahim, said the protest could spark chaos in the country.
In Kedah, Kubang Pasu Umno secretary Samsuddin Ahmad and the chairmen of 20 Umno branches in the division lodged a report against the protest at the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters.
Kedah Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang, in a statement, proposed that the organiser hold the event in a stadium.
"They have the right to express their views on any issue but it does not mean that they can organise any activity which can undermine public order," he said.

tunku : with so many police report being made we hope the police will try their level best to stop the "dirty" protest by those idiots trying to create tension and chaos in the country.if they want to hand over memorandum to the King, just make appointment and take a group of 10 people to Istana. those involved has access to parliament.they can bring any suggestion or discussion in the parliament.why want to bring it on the street? where is the logic? suddenly we are hearing they are instigating people to go on the street and protest like the egypt and tunasia protest. this show clearly that they just want to create tense and chaos.we want police to arrest all the leaders who are involved in this protest under ISA. this is national security issue and police can't tolerate on this matter.

Since the late 70s and early 80s many governments all over the world have been not telling it as it is to the people. The truth was always dressed up because they had ana averssion to the truth. Further they held to the old dictum that by tellin the truth nany hearts will be broken and the people would be un happy. There is no emprircal eveidence to this point, wrote Alberto Alesina of Hrward university, is much less clear cut than the conviction with whic this conventional wisdom is held. The hope was that time will remove the story front pages and they could move along by pushing the problrm under the carpet. No more today.

The advent of the internet in the mid 90s apper to give credence to this view. Today as government find it more and more difficult to keep secrets citizen are today expressing their views moe and more through the medium of the internet. Governments of today cannot afford to ignore these views, small in numbers they be, if it wants to survive the next elections. What we kneed is for civil servants to be more pro active and explain positions taken by government before the public begind to question. The key word to achieve this is transparency in government dealings. In the private sector when the relative of a director has dealings with the company in which he is the director he must declare the interest of his relative to the Bursa Sham. Similar rules for politicians and civil servants will go long way to make people understand what the government is trying to do.

In the present circumstances those in power may be more prudent to address the causes of the Bersih Rally then to deal with its effects. Yes, Tunku, I agree with you that using the ISA is one option. But I am of the view that while the use of the ISA may be a good unbralla it will make a poor roof for the future of this nation that we all love. Sometime it is cheaper for the government to do at the beginning wahat they will be forced to do unsuccesfuly in the end.

Salam satu Malaysia

Bersihkan diri pemimpin kamu dulu sebelum nak adakan perhimpunan BERSIH.
