Cheaper grocery items at Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched the first of many 1Malaysia shops in the country, designed to help bring down the prices of goods and ease the burden of the common man.
He noted that the launch of the shop showed that the 1Malaysia concept was not just a slogan but it took care of the people's basic needs.
Najib said that as the country marched towards becoming a developed nation, the Government still ensured the people were taken care of.
“It is (1Malaysia) not ceremonial, rhetoric or something distant. It has moved forward to offering the people products and services that meet their needs,” he said at the launch of Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia at the Kelana Jaya LRT station here yesterday. The shop would operate from 7am until 11pm.

tunku : we hope more of this kind of shop opens throughout Malaysia.if possible every town should have at least one store. thanks to Mydin for doing good deed.we need more people like them.we know that certain quarters (businessman) are purposely pushing up the prices of goods just to make the public angry at the government.they have their secret agendas.(with oppositions).

That's the way, Najib.
Its time we show something to the Chinese shopkeepers who have been in cahoots with the Opposition in just for no reason keep on increasing the price of essential food items so that the rakyat will be angry at the BN Government.
The stupid rakyat don't realise its the dirty politics from the Opposition especially the DAP communists who are responsible for the price increase!
Najib should open more of these outlets like The Satu Malaysia Clinics with the help of the BN Government.
Then the Pakatan Rakyat cannot blame the BN government anymore for the high price of foodstuff.
The rakyat will realise the dirty tactics of the Pakatan Rakyat and show their anger in not voting them.
Now the rakyat realised that Najib is smart and sincere in helping the Rakyat.
Vote for BN ..........

Dear Tunku,
The government must get out of the people's hair and confine itself to good governance. This kind of policies were already experimented by the Socialist and Communist countries after the Second World War and have been dicredited because these government run shops became the centers of corruption and neportism among card holding Party members.

The Government should work towards placing living wages in the hands of the people and let them decide waht they want to do with it. In this regard our GDP has grown by almost 15 times since independence while our incomes have only grown by say 3 to 4 times over that period. Some of us like the MPs have done well against the GDP. An MP at indeppendence got RM500.00 byt today he gets RM5,000.00 that is a fair income as aproportion of our GDP growth.

It is very much the way we bring up our children. You can dole out his daily allowance or give it to him on a monthly basis so that he learns how to manage his limited resources.

These 1 Malaysia shops will end up like our cooperative societies in the 60s. Goods will be sold, yes at lower prices, but the shop will not restock goods that are sold. And these shops will not be able to offer better prices than Supermarkets in the long run. Do you know that on days the area has a Parsa Malam the nearby Supermarkets ruduce their prices for that day to compete with prices in Parsa Malam.

Because of their expenditure style cash flow will suffer. When it comes to the allocation of scares resources the individual is the best bet. Thank You.

I think its a great idea to counter the effects of unscrupulous retailers taking advantage of the rising oil prices. Even though there is the fear of too much government involvement, I doubt the governments main goal is trying to model a socialist country. I would see it more like creating a large corporation with a huge social responsibility. A responsibility to help people. It just so happened that Mydin is one of the first to step up for this role. In which would allow them the advantage of being first in the market to do this. Its hard to see that a lot of companies do excel when they are more socially responsible than other companies who are just crazy for profit. Walmart for example has a huge responsibility in giving the consumer the best prices. What the government have done here is to force capitalism. Yes, more options for consumers....not socialism or communism. Because, the government is not stopping from any other tom dick and harry to start their own initiative to help the people.
