BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has challenged Gerakan president Senator Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to a face-to-face debate on issues concerning the state.
Lim said Koh, the former chief minister, needed not send another party leader or member to represent him in the debate.
"If he (Koh) is daring enough, come meet me face to face. Don't send a proxy to the debate.
"I welcome it if he wants to debate and respond to the issues raised since the opposition pact took over the state government in March last year," he told reporters after attending a state-level Merdeka Day parade, here, on Monday.
Also present were Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas and state executive councillors.
Koh, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, was reported to have said that Gerakan was prepared to debate with the Penang government on various issues following "its tendency to always blame the previous state government when any issue arises".
Koh had also said that the party would send a leader or member, especially from its Youth wing, to the debate.
Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, meanwhile, has set the condition that the debate be telecast live by television to avoid the arguments and facts presented from being twisted by the media.
tunku : lim guan eng should concentrae his time to develop penang not politicking all the time.he has yet to proof to people that he is the best cm penang can have.just answer the question anywhere, anytime.you had debated with koh once, how many time you want to debate with him? do your work, don't waste tax payer's money for your own personal glory.this is the second year as cm, you should put all your resources to build up the state to greater position but instead like in selangor keep want to find the mistake of the past government.when will this end? hope the people realize what type of people they had up there to govern them.don't keep blaming the media twisting your statements when you yourself has a twisted tongue.

Agreed Tunku, Guan Eng should just stick to running the Penang State Government which is not moving anywhere since March 2008.
If he insist in acting like he is still in the Opposition always looking for that publicity stunt on TV or for the papers then Guan Eng should just resign and go back to melaka.
I think other Penangites will be more than happy and capable of replacing him as Chief Minister. Well I am sure many in Kg Buah Pala or PKR supporters in Penang will be happy to see him off. Politicians like Guan Eng who makes election promises that they know they cannot keep are a dime a dozen.
Over one year, did he bring in any new pelojek or investments beside the GOLFY BALLY THINGY?
Senyap sepi saja, takkan kerja taraf MANDOR saja?
Mula masuk melalak tak henti nak duit Petronas, apa dia ingat Bapak dia punya keringat ker itu Petronas?
KARUT
Politik sememangnya karut sejak dulu lagi. Siapa pun sama sahaja, cakap saja berdegar-degar laksana ayam, kokok berderai-derai, ekor bergelumang tahi.
is he the one who was photographed taking the public transport?
paklah was also photographed taking the public transport
MUST be a SPIN master behind the PERCEPTION
their motto = be SEEN caring for the rakyat, whether they actually care does not matter
Both are from the same species, no different la as penang people says ' pi mai pi mai tang tu jugak.
