RMAF Mercy Flight To Johor To Take Donor's Organ


KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) carried another mercy flight to ferry nine medical officers from the National Heart Institute (IJN) to the Johor Baharu Hospital to perform a surgery to retrieve an organ from a donor.
A statement from the RMAF tonight said the medical officers were flown to Johor at 8.45pm on a CN 235 aircraft from the Subang Air Base to the Senai Airport in Johor Baharu to perform the operation on a donor who had been confirmed as being brain dead at the Johor Baharu Hospital.
The medical officers involved were Dr Mohamad Ezani Md Taib, Dr Sivakumar Sivalingam, Dr Suhaimi Kadiman, Dr Arifin Marzuki Mokhtar, Ahmad Joliadi Mohamad, Mohamad Ripin Yusof, Noorsalina Othman, Azliza Adam and Siti Nor Dayana Mohd Noh.
The aircraft from the No 1 SKN Detachment was flown by Capt Baharom Jaimun with Major Abd Wahab Ayub as co-pilot and Air Quartermaster Flight Sergeant Mohd Rafi Palman and Flight Sergeant Aznita Abd Latif.
The statement said the same aircraft would also be used to bring all the medical officers back to Kuala Lumpur and they are expected to arrive about 2.30am.
Yesterday, the same aircraft was used to bring the heart from the Ipoh Hospital which was donated by a Malay youth who had died in a road accident to be transplanted into Tee Hui Yee, 14, to replace the mechanical heart which she had been using since September last year.

tunku : thanks to the donor and the family members. thanks to our RMAF guys and big thanks to our dedicated IJN's staffs. they are really working hard, just last night(3rd Oct) they rush to ipoh and did op on two patients last night and again tonite(4th oct) to johor bharu and will do the op again tonight.
