Nurin's murder case: Police release photofits

The photofits of the man and woman (below) that the police are looking for to help with investigations on the murder of Nurin Jazlin.
KUALA LUMPUR: Photofits of a man and a woman, both said to be locals, were released by police in connection with the kidnap cum murder of eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin.
Federal CID director Comm Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee said the photofits were produced with descriptions given by the public.
"The duo can help shed light on the case and assist us in investigations," he said at Bukit Aman on Tuesday.
"The man is aged between 35 and 40, 168cm in height and has fair complexion. The man went to housing areas in Bangsar, enquiring about renting a room for him and his daughter.

"He approached numerous house owners several times around the time Nurin Jazlin went missing," he said.
On the woman's photofit, Comm Wan said she is in her 20s, 153cm tall and with shoulder length hair.
"She was seen near the dark blue sports bag in which Nurin Jazlin's body was found at a shoplot in Petaling Jaya Utama on Sept 17.
"The woman was seen in the afternoon, a day before we found Nurin Jazlin's body," he said.
He urged those who remember seeing anyone in that area fitting the description and carrying the bag on Sept 16 and 17 to contact the police immediately.
When asked if a child pornography syndicate was behind this, Comm Wan said police are investigating all possible angles.
He said police believe the culprit/s could be also responsible for the Kampung Baru molest cases as findings of both cases have similarities.
However, he refused to reveal the details.
Since June this year, the "Kampung Baru molester" is wanted in connection with the molest cases of two girls, aged five and six.
Promising them an ice-cream if they helped locate his missing cat, the suspect took the girls away on his motorcycle.
The girls were then molested and had brinjals forced into their private parts before they were released several hours later.
Comm Christopher also confirmed the four men detained in Shah Alam in connection with Nurin's case last Thursday were released at 4pm on Monday.
He refused to reveal why the four aged between 27 and 35 were released even though their remand period was for a week until Oct 4.
"We are still waiting for their DNA test results but we have released them based on other evidence," he said.
Comm Wan said this leaves only the 23-year-old Indonesian woman detained on Saturday.
The bag in which Nurin Jazlin's body was found inside. Anyone who remembers seeing the woman or man (in the photofits) carrying this bag around the Petaling Jaya Utama area, should call the police.
The woman had been detained at a stall in Nilai, about 15km from the Seremban rest area, where a girl who resembled Nurin had been reportedly seen on Sept 5.
"(The Indonesian woman) is being detained at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) where doctors are trying to retrieve the subscriber identification module (SIM) card that she swallowed when she was taken to court for remand," he said.
Comm Wan however refused to reveal how, the woman, an illegal immigrant, was connected to the case.
The woman is believed to have sent SMSes to a police hotline number, claiming Nurin Jazlin was in her custody, days after the girl went missing near her house.
Nurin Jazlin, a Year Two pupil of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Desa Setapak, went missing on Aug 20 when she went to the night market near her house by herself.
Her badly bruised body was found stuffed in a sports bag in Jalan PJS1/48 in Petaling Jaya on Sept 17.
The post-mortem revealed she had been sexually assaulted with a cucumber and brinjal.
