PRS Confident Of Retaining Pelagus Minus Sng
KUCHING, April 3 (Bernama) -- Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) is confident that the Barisan Nasional (BN) will retain the Pelagus seat in the April 16 state election despite the incumbent, Larry Sng, being dropped from the BN's candidate line-up, which was announced Sunday.
PRS president Datuk Seri Dr James Masing said the party's new face Stanley Unja had a very good chance of defending the Iban majority seat.
"We have never lost in Pelagus even though the external factor is always there," he told reporters at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu's (PBB) headquarters here.
He said there was an understanding in BN that Sng would not be included in PRS' candidates list because he was not a PRS member and so could not contest in any of the nine seats allocated to the party.
Partyless Sng's political fate became uncertain after he was sacked from PRS in 2007 for insubordination following an internal leadership crisis.
However, Masing said PRS would have backed Sng if he had joined the Sarawak United Peoples's Party (SUPP) or Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) to stand under the BN ticket.
Overall, the six-term Baleh incumbent said he was happy with the PRS name list, which was accepted by the top BN leadership.
tunku : no doubt that BN can retain the pelagus seat but BN should not forget that larry sng's father will throw money to make sure prs lost in pelagus just for the sake of revenge.after all dato sng is anwar's best friend.hope that BN is aware of this.
